hi

Sorry if this topic has been covered before but was just after some advice on a smaller lighter battery at a reasonable price?

My car lives in the garage during the winter on charge so dont need a heavy duty battery, more interested in saving some weight with a smaller lighter one.

Has anyone got any suggestions?

many thanks

Ben

I fitted a Shorai LFX21A6-BS12 on my elise. 1.35kg vs 11.5 B)

~£150.

Saving weight in the front of the car not considered the best place mind.

But why do the Exige and Elise run the battery in the rear if there's a big problem in losing the weight in the front?

If you're using a lighter exhaust (standard isn't the lightest thing in the world!) and perhaps switched away from the standard airbox to something like an ITG etc. you could have saved ~10kg from the rear, in so helping retain some of the front / rear "wedge"..

I don't think that battery would last long in my car mind you!

So an extra £100 to save 10kg of weight that you wouldn't be able to notice! Makes perfect sense to me😄😄😄

How far do you go with that logic though?

When is it worth trying to save weight in the car?

I expect £10/kg is high up on the value scale if you were to compare other options.

IMO rarely, (but that's just me!) unless it's a race or track only car and part of an overall 100kg - 150kg target. & as Fez says, in the right places Each to their own though I can never get out of my head the guy at Snetterton last year in a Loti who was preaching about his weight saving ideas. He must have weighed in excess of 18 stone

Does that mean if you are tall and have the seat further back then the weight distribution will be wrong? :-p

Just be careful with some of these race-batts. Some are just smaller. they are the same weight but the dimmensions shrink dramatically. I guess the idea is that you can fit them low down in otherwise inaccesable areas of the car. Kindly, Paul
