Last photo, to the left of the right hand inlet, are those carbon deposits?

Looks like things will be starting to come together for you Martin 11% reduction in fuel is quite a lot normally expect it to be below -5% to + 5% So hopefully this will help and hopefully your oil consumption will also be going in the right direction Did you change your lambda sensor ???As an update- Got a new pcv valve fitted, but its a very simple tube with holes in so unsure how it could have been broken. But, there was a problem with the gasket fitted (pictures attached next) that Back on track think is almost certainly the problem. This has been resolved and I am now just trying to rack up some mileage to test the oil consumption. To help with this, the oil was topped up to the 2nd mark on the stick, a catch tank was fitted and the pipe coming off it goes into another bottle so I can see exactly what's caught and what would go into the SC inlet, mileage was recorded when al this was done. Today I am deliberately going out to rack up at least 100 miles and do a full new fuel map and ignition map (hoping that the lack of oil may have changed things), on a short run Saturday noted that all fuelling was being adjusted from between -2% up to -11% at the top end. Once these have been done will do a power run and log file. Laminovas were clean and the inlet of the throttle body was clean. Martin S

New lambda sensor in, got buggered when fitting the exhaust back on.
Should have a new map later on today and maybe a power run this evening.

This could be the cause of your problems, but allignment there and the buggering of the gasket (why??) looks a bit poor.. (I do assume they used a new intake mani gasket and properly alligned...?)
But some extra sealant there will help and hope your problems are sorted with this.

I know it's obvious, but it will be worth putting a straight edge over the mating faces to be sure they are both flat.

Cost me £500 to have that done, not taking it apart again!
Have been trying to do some mileage but gave up as our roads are such a nightmare, but, so far its gone through half a litre of oil in 200 miles, which is a big improvement. Still appalling but better.
The one thing is that 50 miles of that 200 was before the gasket was changed so the half litre may have gone then as it was doing a litre every 100 miles. It seems only time and mileage will tell now if the oil loss is sorted.

Just the pcv fitted and gasket changed. Every time anything happens with this thing it costs me that, and so far all I have to show for all the money is a car that's worse than it was. Arse biscuits.

As of today I can report that after several hundred pounds, gaskets sealed, new pcv etc etc nothings changed. Car is going through a litre every 100 miles if not more.
New throttle just fitted as well in an attempt to solve a problem and it runs even worse. Did notice that the throttle body fitted when the engine was done was one I rejected previously from a vxer as it was damaged but it still ended up on my car and suspect that may be faulty, but doesnt explain the oil.
My catch tank though is now totally dry and we noticed that if you put your finger over the breather pipe, its sucking, not blowing!?
Now wheres that fuel can and a nice dark secluded road.
