Can't find a dedicated French owners club or forum, it seems to come under Club Lotus France. If anyone knows better please let me know. In the meantime I've added their 'For Sale' page to My Favourites' and will scan that. Do hope it turns up.............

Was it insured.....
might be an idea to offer a reward, could tempt the thief to cash in, easier then breaking the car.

It couldn't be insured until it had passed the VIC test - that was the last step to putting it back on the road.
General thoughts are that the trailer was the target, once the car was discovered it would quickly turn into an added inconvenience.
What's done next with it is the worry ......

Presumably it's covered under business insurance?
Steve is waiting for his insurance company to come back to him on that one. I'm guessing it's unlikely.

Annie
Can we have a description or a photo of the trailer..
and the rest of .org I suggest
..everyone takes 2 hours out of their day tomorrow and look around all industrial estates..dead ends..and other unlikely places..and a take a diversion on their way to work, station etc..this is parked up somewhere...
..find the trailer and we are half way to finding the car
List

I think it's worth seeking advice on wether he is liable for the car while its in his custody. I wouldn't take his insurance companies opinion on it.
I think it's worth Annie doing what she thinks is best. Not everyone in this world seeks blame.
