Gotta be honest, I'm quite pissed off with this now.
What they've basically done is reneged on the deal they put up because people actually went for it.
So anybody who still wants to go has to wait and see how much they put the price up by, can't book the hotel unless you want to pay extra to ensure you get a refund because we don't know if the new, lets be honest, higher price is acceptable, so risk losing out on a room at the place where everyone else is staying.
I understand that they may not have anticipated so many people booking so early, but they shouldn't have withdrawn the offer just so they could make more cash. It just seems very unfair now that I'm going to have to pay much more if I want to go.
But to be honest, I'm kind of thinking that I'm not going to bother now.

Shoulda booked earlier?
Yeah, I know. But I needed the OK from work first and the site did say I had until Feb 16 before the price went up.
If it had said "£225 until Feb 16 or unless we change our mind so as to make more money", I may have been more prompt.

You will regret not going. This is -the- trackday event of the year.
We don't know the new price yet but I am guessing Paul will go to the £275 price point straight away instead of waiting until 1/2/16.
My advice is be p*ssed off for a bit...but still get your credit card out anyway .

Nah, that was different, Mike was just trying to help out by getting more owners out on track at Croft, he didn't charge any extra like this.
@ Coco - yes, I emailed earlier and he told me that future bookings were on hold whilst they review their pricing.

I think Paul needs to be cut some slack. LoT is run in a very much 'for the members/not for profit' style. Any regulars will know how generous and reasonable PG can be, just look at the cancellation policy as one example. LoT td's are generally much better value than other TDOs and the organisation, driving standards etc are also much better. There also is a great sense of community that you don't get with the others. It's yet to be seen how this will be handled but in the context Of a euro trip and all the other costs, the extra fifty quid is nothing...certainly not worth dispatching the toys and potentially souring the great relationship between LoT and VX220ers.Yeah, I'm sure that'll go down well if you suggest it to him. Pretty sure I'll hear the explosion from here.Might be worth asking if we can all get discount for group booking
Gotta feel for Paul though. He did the reduced rate to get some working cash in, expecting a dozen or so early signups by year end. Now he finds himself with 75% of the slots sold and still the best part of 2 months until the discount deadline expires, wondering how he's now going to break even on the whole day.

You won't mind paying it for me then ?
Although we don't actually know what the 'new' price is going to be, it could increase by much more.
Like people have implied, I bet they're calculating whether the day will actually break even now. I bet the offer was only intended for a handful of people, first 10 or so bookings max. But then a whole rabble of VX'ers has turned up and taken advantage of it and they're now left with only a handful of places left that they might have to charge £300+ for to make up for the shortfall in margin so that they don't lose money.

I can't remember the exact cost of previous euro trips and actually I never work it out but very roughly TD 225 petrol 150 hotel 150 ferry 150 food 100 booze 50 = £825 - thats ignoring tyres, wear and tear, breakdown cover, insurance and probably some other stuff
£50 is neither here or there!
