Was sooooooo sick of getting cut up by Chelsea fucktruck tractors, that I decided to install DRL's. I know they aint everyones cup of tea but here's a guide anyways for the peeps who like them:
I used these from ebay.....

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371143158736

1) Remove Headlight (One securing bolt)
2)Unplug both fog and main light harness
3)Find suitable location for DRL Control unit

4)Tape up Fog Harness

5)Attach positive and negative of DRL unit to battery
6) Locate side light power cable on light harness (Red cable)
Connect white cable from DRL unit to red power cable (This dims the DRL's by 30% when lights are switched on)

7)Remove old fog unit (This can be a real pain in the ass if youve never done it before, may have to grind out old screws from mount, so be prepared)
Alittle tip would be to use the fog light hole to unscrew the fog from its mount, its fiddly but defo works.....much better than removing the front clam!
8) Remove mount screw from fog bracket

9) I used some plastic shelving as a rear mount
Posted Image
10) I made a circle - diameter of 115mm
Posted Image
11) Mark where you are going to drill holes and drillllllll, I used M4 bolts and nuts, so used a 5mm drill bit
Posted Image
12) Drill a hole for the DRL Power harness to go through
Posted Image
13) Screw and bolt in place onto fog mount

15)Put DRL Power cable through hole

16)Screw DRL down, make sure to put it at its lowest setting so it fits the clam nice n snug

Nice guide Gav. The blanking plates are good (I just cable tied mine onto the mounts because I'm lazy). the DRL controller I got from Amazon senses the battery voltage so just needs a +12, negative and a sidelight feed to drop the power by 30% as required....I'm guessing yours is the same as there is no mention of how its activated. They work well and come on at start up as the alternator increases the voltage to 13v+ish, then they go off around 30 seconds after switch of as the battery voltage drops back to around 12v. Like you, getting cut up in the VX seems inevitable, so a bit more visibility can only be a good thing.

Good job. However, would it have not been easier to just drive with your lights on?

Its something I do all the time now, some people agree, some dont, but I always find it helps to get noticed on the road, regardless of the car im in.

Agree, I always drive with my lights on, all of the time, regardless of the car I'm in. On a slightly different note, the amount of people that now drive with no lights on in the twilight as they think their fairy lights cover it... failing to note that their tail lights are not illuminated! Grrr.

Mine illuminate when the ignitions starts and remain on for 20 seconds once the engine has shut off.

Yeah I used to drive with my lights on too, however, the fogs have always been yellow and sh*t looking, wanted a more up to date look . I "personally"think  DLR's in this car look pretty good and dont look over the top like some of the retarded versions I've seen.

But then like I said, different strokes for different folks

Ha ha I dont think DLR's are the cause of people driving without their lights on, that is just plain and simple stupidity.....which unfortunately seems to be an epidemic effecting the entire human road using race right now.

Think I'll be doing this instead of finding foglights and brackets , anything to stop people being lured to the grp must be a good thing the way spares are going

Hi Deano. I wouldn't want to disappoint. There were many, many cable ties involved.... 😛
