As you say, its a gearbox that was designed for a diesel fitted to an engine that was designed for an auto box using a mating method designed by Lotus!!

Yep , good old Lotus engineering!!
but interested parties do their research anyway before deciding hence they would become aware of all of this
This may also be of interest re the "clutch issues"

There aren't many cars that I am curious to drive but a 400 version would be on my short list, simply to see how it compares to Nipper.

Saw one of these in the flesh for the first time in the office car park, and it was far better than I imagined.
For a start, it was way smaller than it looks in the photo's. Really nice looking in that tiny way that Exige's are. Surprised me.
I still think they have some development to do. More power, a dual clutch gearbox. Otherwise - fab.

They look far more 'supercar' in person than they do in pictures IMO.
As you say, alot smaller, with the large rear arches. Inside also feel fantastic - snug (seats are one of the best I've ever sat in I think), but with decent visibility for the type of car it is..
The MY2010 I was in also felt very well screwed together inside and out..

I've been actively trying to buy one (many) for a month now.
Abject failure. Its actually really had to find a good one.

Very surprised by Coco pops NA version Saturday at Brands, very nimble and quick. Could do with a bit more exhaust noise but other than that all was very impressive and I can see why people are moving on to them as a VX replacement.

For me it can't be a vx replacement.
Can't take roof off, which for those first days in spring when the heat comes back is essential.
Don't quite have the same feeling of lightness in the Evora
I think track running costs are probably quite a bit more in the Evora, time will tell.
but for all sorts of other reasons, it pulls the vx's pants down. I mean I don't think there is much in it between Lee and I in terms of skill, heavy Na evora and light supercharged vx at Spa. 1 second difference in the lap.
Only I has to endure 10 hours of earplugs and the thoughts of my own mind, while Lee sat in the quite comfort of heated seats and classical music (well that's what I would have done )
Evora is fabulous in every version, and I currently have a rather large bank balance waiting for one I just can't bloody find one. But it isn't a vx replacement.
Kurt, I'd love an SR S, but can't afford one.
Then I'd love an SR NA, which I could afford if the right age, right mileage cars came up as opposed to the 64/15 plate cars with 3k miles which are for sale.
In the meantime then, the realistic buy is a 2010-11 NA CR box, with all the option packs. preferably in white. Infact, I really only want a white one.
I've placed two (or is it three?) deposits now and every time the cars have been a disappointment
