Nice to see the use of this engine in a topic. Was waiting for it a couple of years.....
Since Frank (exmantaa) has no time...;-)

Good luck with the build!

waiting since 2013.....

Being from Oz you should go with a Haltech ECU http://www.haltech.com/ Also have a Flex fuel sensor for running E85 or Petrol and in between

Do you know much about them? I've been offered an Elite 1500 ecu that was on demo at the Autosport Show for very little money (the guy struck a deal for the V8 version at the same time). Currently locked in some kind of demo mode but Haltech are happy to unlock it for a very reasonable fee.

I came across them from MCM. They do a few projects where one of the the guys from Haltech does the tuning. Seem pretty switched on guy and really flexible unit. MCM can be a bit of a hard watch at times but check out this amazing conversion. Take a effectively a Skyline estate and drop in a Nissan V8 with a turbo. Lots of fabrication and bespone work. It's on their other channel so is purely the build and technical without the faff. Turbo boys will love it. https://youtu.be/UjDGM7noTJw Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

As I said - lol. Bunch of noobs using the block to convert the brilliant modern A20NFT to a dinosaur by taking away the best features like DI and VVT. I'm that mysterious guy named Dominik btw. Soon I will upload a Website about A20NFT Conversion. kopp-racing.com

While you are here, what ecu did you use on your Speedster-A20NFT engine? And more important, did you reprogram the ecu yourself to work as stand-alone without CAN/BCM module?

I have a GM Delphi E39(a?) ecu here with wirng loom for a SIDI engine. Should be able to program that, as I have a HPTuners module that support this ecu and I think they now have the VATS (immobiliser) unlocked too.

(Bosch E69 ecu is also used on the GM LNF engines, but I'm not so familiar in what is used in the European A20xxx models)

@ Tibby; seriously lacking the time to spent any "R&D efforts" on this conversion. Point is that the A20NFT turbo placement does not easily fit into a Speedster without hacking into the rear boot. (Maybe it will just fit with a forward tilted engine.)

Simply to much hassle for now, as a 330HP Harrop B207 is soooo much easier.

Hi Ed, not been on forum much for a long time so only just noticed this, Best of luck with it.

I met Ed 6 years ago while he was having his stag do at the ring, good times. You can be sure he will make it work, if he doesn't know he will learn.

Wish the roads had been better in Jan to give you a go in mine. You owe me Dinner by the way :P

Ha! Yeah, forgot about that! Bucks week @ Amsterdam/Nürburgring/Abandoned Airfield... Indeed a week of shenanigans ;) Cold, damp, dark roads with 370hp... I wasn't worried! Lol

So i gave up on the A2A idea. Not helped by someone offering me this stupid cheap :)

Also hoping to pick up an SSC rear toelink kit next week, and did I mention that a new Titan 2.5 rack came up at a good price? I was on the verge of dropping £100 at Titan simply to refresh the rack I had (which wasn't without issues) but this came up right on cue, and hard to knock back a brand new rack

Also started designing a flywheel to suit a 7.25" twin clutch. A bit of a bastard mix of QM and Tilton parts, but essentially a twin 7.25" cerametallic rally setup.

Should be same patter as C20LET/XE engines and there are several 7.25 flywheels available for those engines..

I investigated the A20NFT / LNF engine use (I've always like the idea of a more modern, efficient direct replacement engine), and there are a number of places in the US that will provide a equivalent LNF ECU converted to 'standalone' capability, then using HP Tuners to alter the calibration.

That may be unnecessary if you already have a solution!

PWR

Bosch LNF E69 ECM is crap. few tables, small tables, lack of tuning headroom caused by stupid variable sizes, hard to tune, no functions, easy to brick.

AFAIK I'm the only one at the moment who is able to run the A20NFT Standalone with the latest Delco E39A ECM (Opel 1247153).

(32bit, big tables, ethanol capability, genius VVT-functions for quick turbo spool, launch control, no-lift-shift, engine protection features...)

alphafab uses the old E39.

A few others use the Bosch crap.

I will soon sell brandnew E39A ECMs with my kopp-racing software.

And of course you can tune your E39A afterwards by HPT (Like I do on my own car  ) or use efilive etc.

while having full capability of OBD Diagnosis at Opel / Vauxhall Workshop and at TÜV / MOT /whatever.

Think I have an E39 lying here. (need to check the label)  With a full LNF stand alone harness, so could be from Alphafab. :glare:

Have the info saved somewhere, but do you know if the ecu pin layout is the same for the Delphi E39a?

I read about the E39 functions on the HPT forum and bloody interesting functions in there. Not sure if Trifecta also sells a stand-alone layer for this ecu, but there are others in the US who are busy with it.

Ow, and I already run HPTuners on my P12 LSJ ecu. :D

Biggest concern is to put the A20NHT engine into a VX/Speedster and retain something of a bootspace. Would like to investigate tilting the engine forward, but for now all my engine compartments are a bit occupied with superchargers...

Initial comparisons I made indicated it would be not much more (if any) than a extended section such as found on the Toyota Elise's or Vocky's exhaust manifold 'bump'. Certainly not losing the boot, but if you're right into camping, your beer case carrying capacity might be slight reduced.. :P
