the 'wobbly' oulet fitting in the fuel filter has been weighing on my mind. Internet says this is pretty common, but theres also stories of the things leaking and spraying fuel... something id like to avoid from an 044 on full noise. so bought a slightly different fitting with a longer shaft that seats on the internal orings. checked the position and conditions of the o-rings in the filter (which is new) and everythings Looks as it should. gut feeling reckons the new Fitting is more stable, but it still has a bit of play. not really sure theres much more i can do, just suck it and see.

also started tacking the exhaust together. somehow teh HF Start on my welder seems to have died? nee to scratch start a TIG - which sucks. at least im only tacking at present.

3.5" OEM Dump Pipe - not bad for a factory config on a relatively small turbo!

(edit, Jesus i need to take some pics in daylight. my eyes!)

3.5" dump to cat, v-banded, flex-piped. tacked ready for welding. not really much of an exhaust system to speak of!

Looks good! Nice solution to clear the heater hoses. Will the MAF and intake be flipped forward to the ear? Otherwise we will extend the MAF wiring loom.

Cheers! :) Heater hoses will also have some fire-sock stuff pulled over them. And Im still deliberating whether to get the stainless ceramic coated once its all finished. Intake - the jury is still out. My Audi air box wont fit. Ive showed you the H2 Hummer one, and if, then itll be going in the back. Loom is easy enough to extend in comparison to trying to make stuff here fit! Lol!

Ed, is that tiny flexi going to be able to compress and expand enough to accommodate the amount of rocking back & forth the engine will make? Not sure what front + rear engine mounts you are intending to use, but I hope they are stiff...

yep, it only needs to act as a hinge, as the muffler etc is also rubber mounted and free to flex. i bought several flex joints, and kept this one as it fit the goldilocks criteria... just right

also, the engine is mounted pretty solid, im not expecting a whole lot of movement

 Hummer air filter.. I presume that will be (former) boot mounted? And I guess it's to allow a decent paper filter to be used...

yup :) big ass OEM filter (with plentiful decent aftermarket filters too)

what's also important for me is that its an OEM part (and GM at that!) which scores brownie points when trying to get all this cleared through an inspection

noted the trend?

- OEM (Tesla) uprights

- OEM (Tesla) big brakes

- OEM (BMW 235 M) muffler

- OEM (GM/Opel) catalytic converter

- OEM (GM/Opel) air filter assembly

all the emissions and safety bits that german TÜV get sand in the vaginas about, all stamped with their various CE and conformity numbers etc ;)

Don't add too many Tesla parts or your car might get shot out into space!
