Got the carpet fasteners bonded in :)

Also have the rest of an Exige touring pack in carpets to go with them, and started on making them fit. Got some plastic edging trim for house tiling, cut the internal lip out of the trim out so that the carpet edge was ‚captured‘ under the lip, and not just butting up against it. Cut to size, bonded in, looks awesome!

And in a stroke of luck, found a bloke selling a newly overhauled M32 with a jumpy 4th gear. Was dumping it cheap as no one was (understandably) keen on it.

It’s a MZ4 6sp diesel box with a pretty close ratio and a tall 3.65 final drive. Rated to 400nm, it’ll be pushed if I can get mine making a reliable 500nm, but with only 800kg hopefully it won’t be an issue.

So yeah jumpy 4th post rebuild... perfect for me though! Being a diesel box, it needs a different front case for the 2.0L, plus Im considering beefing up the back case with the later version (bigger shaft carrier bearings and another oil gallery).

Not to forget the LSD that’s been sitting on my desk for the last 6 months. Contacted a bloke about getting the ring gear PCD milled today...

Absolutely pristine condition box post rebuild (20T pinions and 73T RG = 3.65 FDR)

Mix-n-match PCD needs to be machined to fit.

So maybe managed half my todo list  not entirely unexpected and pretty happy with how it actually came together.

Firstly - was in Aust last week and got a a hot lead on some bunnings car/marine carpet. It is actually really good stuff and 1:1 with the existing carpet. So lugged 2m halfway around the world back home.

IMG_0188.JPG

Got a good chunk of wiring done: put a 10pin plug in to completely separate the engine side of the loom. 3 plugs and the engine is free! Also wired in the MSD tach converter allowing the individual coil-on-plug to talk to the oem dash tacho. It works! Started bundling things up and making the loom organised and pretty.

And another rather unexciting video! ECU has been reflashed with a Kopp Racing ‘stage 2’ map along with a revised MAF lookup table calibrated for the bigger unit I’m running - out of a Buick Regal. Dominik also dig some digging through the setup and managed to sort the various errors the thing was throwing. Of particular interest was getting the radiator fan to work. Because my setup is running only “one” fan (although physically 2 fans but only one relay circuit) the oem control algorithm (with two variable speed fans and 7 goddam relays!) was having a seizure and defaulting the circuit to a constant on state.

Anyway, fixed, not throwing codes, fans behaving! Exhaust is still out for ceramic coating, video doesn’t do the loudness justice

Today I got the EWP115 wired and running :) and short of running out of cable shroud the harness is done. Complicated and a little loopy, but the ECU is happy and it’s all OEM... mostly ;)

Still having earthing issues from the battery, so that’s next
