will have to whip out the rivnut gun and make some new mounts for it

Rear mounting holes are not rivnuts in the orignal setup though... There are steel plates bonded into the rear chassis crossmember which are threaded and where the bolts originally screw into. Rivnuts would likely not be up to the task of sustaining the load from a crash which is transferred from the seat belts to the seat frame/rails and then down to the bolts tha hold the seat in the car. The front crossmember holes have threaded inserts fitted underneath during chassis production to spread the load on the ali rail. In both cases there's a void between the ali floor sheet and the inside of the chassis beams, so if you intend to create new (seat) fixing points you may want to cut small access slots/holes in the ali floor sheet under the (hollow) chassis cross members where the seats bolt onto and then fit bolts and nuts to keep the seat in. Then just use some rubber bungs/plugs to seal the holes again.

No biggie as it's often done for fitting race seats and harness anchor points. I'd just advise not to use rivnuts for seat fixation in this application.

Bye, Arno.

Or I'll weld some tabs to the seats rails and use the old holes.

the dead clam in the corner fell victim to a moment o f'wonder if this will fit

Renault Laguna III sedan headlights

for relatively littel fiberglass work, these would actually fit pretty damn well.

- will park that idea for when ive got the luxury of time

basic details (the pics fill in the blanks!):

outer sleeve 10.0x1.0mm tube

inner sleeve 8.0x1.0mm tube

10mm sleeve cut to length (42 and 30mm respectively)

the top 10mm of the tube kept in tact, the rest of the length split, profiled, and opened so as to 'click' over the existing plastic stump

palstic stump trimmed so that the top 10mm of the tube sits flush over the top

inner sleeve / lower locating ring made and chamfered 45deg, insetred into the base of the top 10mm section

bonded in place with loctite 660

the whole shebang then 'clicked' over the plastic stump with sikaflex 221

further inner sleeve / upper locating ring made, chamfered and slotted, then slipped over the threaded rod above the ball

headlight reassembled, balls slid into new aluminium receivers

upper locating ring then slid down over the ball into the 10mm tube, again bonded with loctite 660

worked a treat, joints are pretty firm, but turn smoothly with a socket

aluminium/sikaflex/loctite isnt going to break  :tt:

(but really, what a sh*t design these things are!)

Nice creative fix, shows how 50 pence worth of material and an inventive mind can save someone buying a whole new headlight (@ £ xxx) :)

Exactly. They're stupidly simple in design, no reason you can't have a crack at fixing them. They are pretty nasty and cheap though. The flip side is, they're hellishly light.

Considering you said you have already fixed your lights and cut up a clam I'm assuming you will spend time on that
