Plan is "build a complete car from 2 wrecks". Engine options are open, though at present I've got an unbeatable offer on an A20NFT. That leaves my engine stand empty though, so once the car is running, will probably start playing with another motor as a side project

That is deffo what I'd go for in your position. It is a thoughly modern engine and got some nice parts in it to make it robust for 350 BHP easily. With your skills I'd imagine it to be a fairly easily fit, as its form factor will be very similar to a Z22 or Z20.

How much is the engine if you don't mind me asking?

A20NFT.... Any plans on the ecu management for that one? (can quite difficult to swap a SIDI ecu into another car with all the other integrated CAN systems.)

And I assume you will delete the boot area, as the turbo sits high over the rear subframe.

PS; I have a brand new A20NHT/NFT block in plastic somewhere in my garage, but too much other projects going on.

well if he does want to sell it, im open to offers :)

have one, also new in plastic, with turbocharger, sensors, ignighters etc (esentially complete) for €2600 lined up otherwise.

re: ECU - to be honest, Im an electronics retard. I can do the basics, but the world got too advanced for me about 15years ago, and Ive got no idea these days

- fortunately however, a particualrly pleasant electrical engineer here in germany (who contacted me through here funnily enough) has offered to do the wiring/system integration. has already done so sucessfully with a german speedster.

I just need to get the car mechanichally to a stage where i can trailer it around to him, and let him do the wiring/ecu recoding

Well, mine was a bit cheaper, but it lacks the turbocharger. (That need to be swapped anyway if you want serious power.)

Problem with those direct injection engines is to get the OEM ecu work as a stand alone unit in the Speedster. (not only wiring, but internal programming of the ecu.) If you managed that, there are several options available to tune the OEM ecu for more/different power etc.

And there are not many aftermarket ecu's that can handle direct injection...

Would be a nice engine for a road car I think, so maybe one day...

GMS used to run one in their yellow track Speedster monster, so search for that one here.

Being from Oz you should go with a Haltech ECU http://www.haltech.com/

Also have a Flex fuel sensor for running E85 or Petrol and in between

Do you know much about them? I've been offered an Elite 1500 ecu that was on demo at the Autosport Show for very little money (the guy struck a deal for the V8 version at the same time). Currently locked in some kind of demo mode but Haltech are happy to unlock it for a very reasonable fee.

I dont think so

Dominik is the owner, and hes done all the work regarding hacking the ecu etc himself. Im not sure who did the mechanical part of the conversion, or where the engine itself was sourced.

My engine is coming from a place near Bremen

Vx220 is not difficult to retain oem functions via obd2 port and just run the engine on a separate obd2 port for the newer ecu. What I do on the Audi tfsi conversions and as long as the ecu immob is shut down its just remap and wire in other than working out the 4000 wires for the Audi loom lol Aftermarket ecu supporting direct fuel injection a mare to map and oem eci have some really good features so a no brainer No idea on the vaux ecu mind so of no help afraid Good luck with it DG
