Strange that stuff you look for and can't find often turns up right after you ask for it on a public forum :)

Would be great if someone could verify that this actualy is the ECU relay in the boot

Posted Image

If so it would be the 42-134 from biltema.se that would work for me.

Anyone disagree?

Hopefully this will be a happy friday night :)

All swedes that read this I guess should take a note that Biltemas 42-134 will work (hopefully) as ECU relay :)

Just be sure it can handle the current. Might be worth looking at the wiring diagrams to see what current the cables are rated to.

The relay shown in your fingers is not suitable to use instead of the brown ecu relay. Brown relay has two normally open circuits. The black relay has one normally open and one normally closed circuit.

Thanks. Just realized my mistake   :)

Will get another one after work.

One more time, this (Biltema 42-304) will do the trick (!?)     ==>  Posted Image

Will the current be ok though (2x15A) ???

That will work in the same way as the brown relay, just a slightly different way of doing it.

Yeah. Noticed that my relay will keep both outputs connected all the time and the Siemens one will keep them disconnected until the relay is pulled. Will this cause any problem?

one side feeds the injectors + lambda sensors and the other side the fuel pump (via the fuel pump relay and fuel cut off switch)

I cannot really seem any harm in using the black relay instead, there is no real potential back feed in the circuits.

That's good news in two ways. First I can use it without having to worry if it can harm anything. Second this will probably mean that I'll get my fuel pump to prime :)

I'll probably get back online later asking why the starter won't turn over...

aaaaaaand I'm back...

With the new relay the pump primes as it should. The "test pump relay" function in opcom works just like I thought it would now.

However, the car won't turn over. Didn't have the time today to check again but yesterday I measured some 12V on the solenoid and the same on the starter motor itself when pressing the button. There seem to be some problem with the starter itself ? What to do to check/fix it?

The yellow relay is the starter relay, so that is through best place to start looking

But if there was something wrong with the yellow one I take it the starter solenoid wouldn't click when pressing the button?

I also wouldn't be able to measure any voltage on the starter when pressing the button

Also someone said earlier in the thread that his turned over but wouldn't start when there was a problem with the yellow one. Was that not correct?

I'm not questioning what you are saying I just like to understand why I'm doing stuff :)

If you are getting 12v at the solenoid when pressing the starter button and 12v at the motor then it's either a bad earth between the gearbox and chassis or a duff starter motor.

That was what I was thinking also. Was hoping for a "patent pending" solution I hadn't thought of.

Both seem kind of far fetched to me, I mean why should either have gone bad while the car was on jacks?

Will try to get the time today to investigate both :)

ehemmmmm....

Removed the starter (that was a pita job from underneath) and got it on the bench. Seemed to work just fine.

Started to measure lots of stuff. Changed some connectors. Then realized that there was something strange going on with the voltage measurements (made some reference measurements) and finally I found that the ground screw on the gearbox was loose. "Someone" had removed it when he was looking for a good place to put the CC pump and not screwed it back completely. I had a serious chat with this "someone", fastened the screw and then it fired straight up :)

Idle was perfect from the start, everything seem fine.

Now I'll just finish the looms, fasten stuff where it needs to be fastened and hopefully I'm good to go.

A small question about obdtuner, I assume that all parameters are logged even though I'm only looking at some of them, right? There might be an issue with my MAP sensor that I want Peter to take a look at.

Yes, when you activate logging, everything is logged.

(that's why it's going straight to the laptop, instead of ecu, as it can be a bit much)

Followed your thread with great interest -fantastic you have sorted out the problem ! Had something quite similar and spent lots of time and effort barking up the wrong trees ,really proves the need to check & double check the basics. Enjoy your extra HP 😀
