todays job,

the rear lights were in bad shape, they were not sealed so had dust, water marks inside etc, it was the first thing i noticed when i viewed the car!

i stripped the lenses off and polished them up, with 3 stages of compounds,

still need to seal them up sometime but pleased with how they are looking now, shineeeee

so onto the colour of the car, i swayed through loads of different colours, black, keep it moonland gray cos that was the safe option, but i am not really one for gray/ silver cars even tho they are nice, just not really my thing. looked into the new porsche lava red/orange, a lambo colour that was similar but 3 stage, quite like renault pacific blue but then in the end decided to sort of play it safe with a standard vx220 colour but still one thats pretty bright so the final result was :-

Mandarin orange.................

not the nicest of colours to paint due to its high yellow content making it pretty rubbish for coverage so put plenty of coats on

turbo ears were painted in mandarin base, then masked up and painted the grill areas in same colour as wheels

Posted Image

similar story to the bonnet, orange base then masked over and did inside part same colour as window surround and wheels etc,

Posted Image

Posted Image

this gave a really nice crisp line between the bonnet and area under where the mesh would have been, plus the the dark colour brings out the curves in there also, some ppl may not like it but i think i could work and look good i hope

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

then they saw few coats of lacquer

A little sad it isn't moonland any more but the more in your face mandarin should match the mods well. Looking forward to seeing it all finished top work.

I think you should have used a matt lacquer... As that wheel looks absolutely filthy good.
