WHY WERE SO MANY NUMPTIES GIVEN THE RIGHT TO VOTE. REALLY STUPID PEOPLE WITH ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA APART FROM BACKWARD THINKING, OLD FASHIONED, YESTERYEAR VIEWS. WE HAVE LET DOWN OUR COUNTRY, OUR FUTURE GENERATIONS, BUSINESSES & BADLY WEAKENED A UNITED EUROPE.   ...I'M SURE PUTIN WILL BE DANCING BARE CHESTED TODAY ON HIS TABLE WAVING GUNS IN EACH HAND....

Sorry Max can't agree with you on that statement , that's how democracy works I am afraid. Dangerous ground to only allow people with your( not you personally) views a vote. Just hope the country makes the best of the position the county is in now
Don't get me wrong Nick, I have absolutely no issues with informed people voting out. However, there was a large number, who's comments on why they want to exit were pretty simplistic, generic & without any real consideration to our future economy. Many hark back to 'the old days, we were once great, taking back control on our own'. This should have been a decision on this countries economic future with more emphasis on integration with us taking a lead role in the world, not going it alone & isolating ourselves.
Agree about some peoples simplistic views on life there have always been scapegoats for people's perceived problems just look back to Germany in the 30's. Then Jews now Eastern European. The U.K. As it is today is far from a major player in the world as it was pre war, but now is time to start building the country, economy up not down, the votes done, let's just hope the government get there act together quickly. I really hope though that Osborne doesn't try to pull some " I told you so budget" that will really cause issues.

Ah, "The U.K. As it is today is far from a major player in the world as it was pre war" Yes Nick, nicely said, just the sort of comments I was talking about..

We are the 5th biggest economy in the world. We cannot emulate the past, the world has caught up, the world is a different place.

A united Europe? Are you having a laugh? The French, Italians and Spanish are more Euro sceptical than us. The EU is full of corrupt figures that think they are above listening to the normal person. They've had a shock this morning and when France have a vote they'll get another shock. Then we'll see how united Europe is.
Spot on

France will do what it always does. It'll vote for a Le Pen of one flavour or another, who'll show amazing results in the first round results and be acclaimed as the next PM. This will then freak out the rest of France, who'll vote for the establishment in the second round and the FN will be nowhere to be seen in the end. Or maybe that's just the DCRI borrowing MI5's erasers.

Well, Good Afternoon Chaps.

I was always taught to be careful what you wished for, I hope you leavers have a plan because I haven't heard one yet, lots of puff but not a real business plan.

Donald Trump is in Scotland jumping for joy.  The Scots want another referendum for leave so they can join the EU.  Marine Le Pen is seeing a new chance for her FN party who are uncomfortably far right.

Was at the docs this morning, met two French friends in the waiting room, neither could understand what on earth we are thinking of.  Doc himself said ' you know all those immigrants at Calais, well you can have them now '!

So Cameron is going.  Johnson and Gove are backpedalling about activating Article 50, hopefully they will put it to the vote in the commons before pushing the button.  Or maybe Boris will do another U turn and decide to stay in, there is no requirement to activate Article 50 in the treaty so he could do that, who knows.

Whatever, fasten your belts, it will be a bumpy ride!!

Matt..what you need to put against this ...is the % of those age groups that actually voted to have a much clearer and unbiased analysis...

It is virtually the complete opposite, so if the younger population has anything to grumble about, more of them should have voted...( all imo of course)...

Have you got those turnout vs age stats somewhere, as I'd be interested to see them (genuinely)? The only things I've heard are anecdotal and seemed to indicate a decent turnout amongst the youngest group. Don't the demographics show there's more old gits (yearning for imaginary days of yore whilst bankrupting the social security system and the NHS :P ) out there than younger voters. Hence the economy needing migration.

Cheeky Boy!

As an old git whose friends are, in the main, also old gits I can only say that we voted in and practically all our friends say they did too.  One however, failed to vote at all despite having much to say on the matter so maybe the answer lies there, complacency.

Nick's pretty much done it. Unless you advocate the sort of universal suffrage of the type our Dear Leader enjoys in North Korea where voters only get one option, you can't take umbrage when you don't like the way the result goes. Whilst I am sure that any number of Beeboid left-wing luvvies, not to mention the great unwashed demonstrating outside Boris' house this morning, would agree with you, unfortunately they didn't secure the votes. And that's the joy of democracy - which they don't seem to understand either. It might well be that a lot of those you condescendingly call "numpties" have felt the impact on health, education and housing from the relentless inward net migration we've experienced as a result of our membership of the EU. There has not been any sign that the claimed benefits to the economy from our membership have actually trickled down very far. Anyhoo, before you spend too much time crying in your beer, I wouldn't be surprised if there was an 11th hour stitch up with Boris playing it long and going for a renegotiation when he's Prime Minister. Finally, I think your concern that we have damaged a "United Europe" is a just a wee bit naïve. Given the chance, I think there'd be a queue to exit.

Maybe it will turn out that people have been brave and we end up with a brighter future but at the moment all I can see is one monumental mess we have gotten ourself into. Many people have voted on symplistic issues and not looking at the thing as a whole. We have now got to unravel 40 years of intergration at God knows what financial and social cost. All trade agreements with all country's need sorting, our laws have to be re-written, Scotland will leave Ireland will have to setup boarder controls and all the tensions that come with it to name but a few. I really hope the leave camp really do know better than me and everything works out ok for all our sakes. rant over
