Don't think they will go for another vote but we will probably end up with the cliff Richard option Never fully coming out 😀

Agree AGAIN..........!!

Agree,

Date for the debate is September 5th. So all it's done is kick the can a little further down the road fitting Cameron's idea that it will be post their conference with a new PM so that's early October.

..then its budget time

..then It xmas

..then its new year and a couple of trips to g7, g10 and g20 and g69

.then its 2017 summer recess

..shall we have some trade agreement or close the borders.. deliberate for 2 years

..then its time to start thinking about the next election 2020

..oh had we better not do something ....too late

..and possbily hand the baton over to corbyn...wtf

then all the older voters get alzeimers and everything will be forgoten about and all the pontificating both sides have been doing will be a waste of the hot air..

same old same old...at the end of the day fcuk all will happen........(or will it?)

hh...sorry my caps lock has broken... ;)

I thought you wanted the thread closed H? Plus the fact that it is a debate in the Hall and has no power: "The Petitions Committee has decided to schedule a House of Commons debate on this petition. The debate will take place on 5 September at 4.30pm in Westminster Hall, the second debating chamber of the House of Commons. The debate will be opened by Ian Blackford MP. The Committee has decided that the huge number of people signing this petition means that it should be debated by MPs. The Petitions Committee would like to make clear that, in scheduling this debate, they are not supporting the call for a second referendum. The debate will allow MPs to put forward a range of views on behalf of their constituents. At the end of the debate, a Government Minister will respond to the points raised. A debate in Westminster Hall does not have the power to change the law, and wont end with the House of Commons deciding whether or not to have a second referendum. Moreover, the petition which was opened on 25 May, well before the referendum calls for the referendum rules to be changed. It is now too late for the rules to be changed retrospectively. It will be up to the Government to decide whether it wants to start the process of agreeing a new law for a second referendum. The Petitions Committee is a cross-party group of MPs. It is independent from Government. You can find out more about the Committee on its website: http://www.parliamen...committee/role"

True, the debate will have no power but then the Referendum wasn't legally binding either.  In the end it will probably be a 'my majority was bigger than your majority' scenario!  It will still have to be debated in the Commons anyway before Article 50 can be triggered.  And then there are the legal challenges...............

As a Civil Servant I can't publicly comment or air views on the referendum, the outcome or the debate. But it has been fun to watch this thread.

I've raised this point at least a couple of times - because that's exactly the position Switzerland is in. It's why I think Gove said he wanted us out of the single market.

Clearly we won't be a part of the single market.. unless some very clever negotiations can secure us access without free movement which is very unlikely.

It's good to finally see the new Prime minister & the main conservative cabinet in place. We can now start to formulate plans & a strategy to exit the single market before we press the button in the weeks ahead.

Has T May has put our country's finest, most experienced person in the main position as foreign Minister? let's hope Boris is given a dry cleaners & hairdressers allowance as part of the job & he's given a new car to replace his 2004 battered £200 Ford Focus.

It's perhaps a clever move on May's part. Boris as one of the main Brexit camp leaders may fall on his own sword & that won't tarnish her. I hope that's not the case & she really sees a good negotiator in him.

I think Boris and the Trump will get along just fine. (with some awsome kodak moments me thinks)

Just hope Donald does not get wacked before that.

Foreign Secretary is one of the most diplomatic roles in government. I think Boris has been set up for the start of the end of his political career.

Boris, the man who speak double dutch, and treble bollocks, but came out shining standing on the world stage at Beijing Olympics closing ceremony telling everyone we have great Red buses and wonderful bikes...what could ever go wrong...it would have been the job he neogiated for when he dropped out of the running allowing that nasty little Gove to get the sack and end up on the back benches...

I'm a brexit guy and I'd be happy with this arrangement. I'm pro-immigration and all the benefits that brings.

I'd like to see our immigration continue at it's current pace, although it'll be nicer to have a balance of less EU migrants and more non-EU migrants, instead of the arguably racist position we're currently forced into, denying non-EU migrants positions to make room for EU free movement.

..me as a "change" voter..no I wouldnt, this wouldnt stop the EU becoming 101 countries and we have to allow free borders, there does have to be some limit to immigration and free access to our services....as more and more cuts take place these services are not and will not cope, utter bonkers that an EU man in this country can send child care benfit back to his family in the country they live in etc..

..also we would need to ensure that the single market has no straight jackets on how we deal with the rest of the world...I will always bring up the problem of each EU country having to import 20% of foodstuffs..it is utter nonesense

I thought you wanted the thread closed H?

..yes i did, and yes I do,

I didnt like the name calling and finger pointing on what was a good debate....it was getting rude and out of order ..and down right personal..

but whilst there seems no ability for the "working class" on this forum to have their say and we are goverened by the "police "  moderators, i may as well have my say ;)

.imo..we could end up with same same old, even with Dicky Davies as the minister and be just like Greece...a no vote becoming a yes vote and those in power and the city being happy as larry and the others just ..watching all the people get lairy..I predict a ..

Unlimited free movement of peoples is a deal breaker for me personally.

Canada has access to the single market, eliminating most trade tariffs, but has not signed up to any free movement.

The chancellor has already confirmed we will be leaving the single market but negotiating access -to- it.

http://www.independe...r-a7136101.html

If it means we get a worse deal by not budging on border controls then so be it.

For me it was more about getting out of the undemocratic and self serving EU than it was about controlling immigration.

While I'm not against free movement right now, that view may change as the population rises. It'll be nice to have the ability to put the brakes on at any point without being held hostage by Junker and his clowns

Got to love an optimist :D

This can will be kicked down the road for 10 years. The scale of the task is enormous. Handily we have the blues in power so all the government clout needed to deal with it all got cut a few years back :D
