I swopped my tubby for a 987 Boxster, 3.4 S, not as quick and completely different, but now that I'm of a certain age (OAP) I find it easier to get in and out of, and ''little'' things like the electric roof and two decent sized boots, and .....
I think it may be cheaper to own long term, but only 26.5mpg.
VX forum better tho, mainly I guess because the help is required more often
I test driving Boxster S's as a replacement for my previous Elise but ended up with a Tubby as I just couldn't see myself getting up early on a Sunday just to go for a blat. The Boxster just didn't have that raw appeal.
However, on the flipside I was very impressed with it as an all round package and have it in mind for when I can no longer fold myself into an Elise/VX. I think my wife is looking forward to that day as she's hated all my elises, for the very reason that it hasn't got electric roof, two boots, proper seats, some interior carpet, etc.
I think if/when I do go for one I'd probably be looking for the 2.9 though - more than matches the original S but with (allegedly) a more characterful and safer engine.
