I really want to avoid the K series. Ideally I would like an S3 Elise S but it's above my budget. I was looking through the window of the Lotus shop at Piccadilly Circus today and I said to a guy who was doing the same thing that I would really like an S3 Elise S. But he said it was a S5. Is there an S5 or is he talking nonsense?

There's no S5 other than him buying an Audi. Which he probably was about to do

He told me he's had a VX220 turbo and several Elise's. He also said don't waste your time and get a Porsche 997.. Small price difference! lol

Ps. I thought the Elise ##S## had gone, and would now be the Elise 160 or whatever power output it has.

I'm not sure, I thought it was Elise S1 (the original), S2 (alien face), S3 (little beauty 2010 onwards) :)

It is, but the S moniker has been removed from new cars. They are titled by their power output... had a very grumpy dealer principle talking to me a couple of weeks ago, as they had bought it stock to sell without the ludicrous delivery times, only to have their stock devalued by a new labelling system that Lotus advised no-one about prior. He was told Fri aft that it was happening and would be applied to all new orders from 9am Monday. He said he'd had to write off £50k off stock value.

Would i be able to have a PAX ride in the Z4? i too am intrigued and want a good all rounder, i have a 330i and a VX220 so does seem like a sensible compromise. I am doing Woodbridge airfield on the 15th of May if you are about?

I find Porsche and Lotus make things complicated when it comes to names...

Of course you can, I'm not sure if I'm going to Woodbridge on 15/05/16 but if I'm there you're more than welcome to a Pax ride.

The Elise and Elise S were dropped to become the Sport and Sport 220 for the SC. The Recent Cup 220 as almost immediately superseded by the Cup 250 and the Exige V6 saw similar name changes all with no communication to the dealer network. If its any consolation to the dealer principal you spoke to Chris they wouldnt have sold bugger all of any of them anyway so the name changes wont make too much different. The Cup fiasco did trip a few dealers up as they had stock of a pretty popular model the first new Lotus in a while to get some proper traction and Lotus feck it up for them! Now they arent doing too well on the cup 250 because the 220s dropped like a stone and residuals went from being OK to utterly terrible. New Lotus cars are a mugs game to get into.

The biggest loss they had was on a Exige S and an Evora S.

Not just yet, although I can't see me keeping it long term as light cars are more fun.

That's confusing, why call it a 250?

Really, I thought all the supercharged Elises were 217. Anyway, 250 in an Elise sounds very good.
