Thank you, I've just noticed this reply after posting a new topic. The cables are still attached to the gear box so I guess I need to try and get the centre console off to take a look.

Had a Z4M before the VX. Never really gelled with it. It was good fun but not enough to justify the cost of ownership at that time in my opinion.

I agree it's more expensive, I'm just looking for a car I can do some drifting in at the moment but still enjoy top down motoring in the summer. I must say the sound system sounded horrific considering how many speakers it's got.

Great choice. At least you'll be able to enjoy it without having to worry about the engine. I pulled up behind one at the petrol station today. It sounded great as it pulled away. As one of the last NA M cars with hooligan handling I'm sure it'll be a future classic, although I think I'd have to stretch to the coupe rather than the roadster but then I don't really get the whole roof off experience (the hardtop has been on the vx for over a year now and I have no desire to remove it any time soon). Get some pictures up.

Thanks, I'm looking forward to having a hooligan car, I will get the pictures up when I get the car on Saturday :) Roof off feels faster at road speeds for me ;)

Looks good that lots of fun to be had. I used to call my TC off switch the immediate death button just for reference :D

I like the extended leather pack on that. Kinky.

Enjoy!

Definitely made the right choice! The Z4M is awesome, on demand tail action and a heater that turns winter into summer with the roof down :)

Haha, yeah I've done around 600 miles in it now and filled up a few times. Took it for a blast today and realised that; although it sounds better and is more comfortable, I can't get much power down in the wet without it snaking around and the VX220 feels like more of an event to drive. Got a dilemma now as I can't keep both forever, the VX220 is off the road with a broken gear cable at the moment.

That has surprised me, maybe in the summer months you will like thje Z4M more? if you don't sell it and charge the VX220

I like the VX220 more in the summer. Using the VX220 through the winter makes me lose patience with it at times, I don't like being cold also the gears are very stiff when cold. One of the attractions to the Z4M was how warm it was when I tested it. In the dry it's fun but in the wet I feel like I'm treading on egg shells with the gas pedal.

I assumed that was part of the fun of an m car - the ability to bring the back end into play, especially when the roads are damp? The slip angles I could hold in my e36 m3 were quite entertaining.

I agree, I was hoping that would be part of the fun, in the dry it's great and I have confidence but in the wet I find it very unpredictable, even in a straight line. Maybe with practice I'll get better.

Give it some time.

I've owned many RWD cars from an AE86, 500 Griff, Z3's, M5 E39 briefly, and recently a Cayman S.

They're all different, and all take getting used to.

I still rate the VX's very highly for an entertaining, and quite safe, drive. I've had three of them so says something.
