Hi, Anyone else out there having a problem with their windows not closing fully? If so any advice??? When I bought the car I made sure that the windows sealed fully when closed ( it had the Hard Top on at the time). The past week or so, when it has rained, I have had puddles of water on the passenger side. on inspection I found that the passenger window has a 1/8"-1/4" gap when fully wound up. I have now put the Hard Top back on but there is still a gap. Could the window have dropped somehow, and is there a way to adjust it.

joe if you look at the bottom of your door you will see two (one at each end of the window) adjustment screws that will adjust your windows level, but be careful wind them too far and they fall into the door thumbsup

These adjustment screws will only cant you window inward/outward.

You need to take your car to a dealer to get them to fit the hard-top properly. When fitting the hard-top they should adjust the window height which is a bit of a job involving getting inside the door!
There is a previous post which shows the method as stated on the TIS CD (Technical guidance for the VX220 Mechanics).
I do not suggest you try the adjustment screws because you will not cure the gap that way and you may lose the screws into the skin of the door!
I did hear a rumour that you could pull the windows up a bit  ...but don't quote me on that!

You could also check the screws holding the wondow guide rail in place are tight. On mine the top front one had slackened off enough to stop the window getting to the top of it's travel. You can see it through the rubber seal on the miror housing, and it's either a Phillips or Tor-X screwhead.

i must have been lucky thumbsup turning the screw into the door has removed the small 2mm gap i had between the top edge of the window and the bottom edge of the soft top seal. maybe the action of swinging the window in towards the seal has a minor influence in the height ? it certainly has helped my problem. :D

If you look on both door interiors, you will see an aluminium / metal winder on each. If you turn it, the window will go up or down. ;) Anything else mate, just give me a shout. thumbsup

I find if you open the door - wind up the window - close door it makes a better seal. :o

right. I called Vauxhall and made them aware that there is a gap and that it cant be the seals, my guess, the door may be out of alignment?? ok... bring it in next day. great. (it had allready been in the previous week because I had quite a leak with the soft top on, witch they ordered the seals for)) I droped my car off at the garage at 10:00 and said I would pick it up at 19:00. I arrive and think great the have had the car 2 whole days bassically and it must be done. NOPE I go inside and it came down to (them) "Who fitted the hard top", (me) "me", (them)"no, who fitted it originnally?" I told them the dealer i bought it from.. (them)" well we can do it here but it is half a days work.....we will only charge for 2 1/2 hours though" (me) "oh ok how much roughly?" (them) .....£182 (me) :o was then told if I take it back to where I got it they should do it under warrenty??????????????? WTF :flame: :flame: :9mm: :9mm: sorry for the long post

That'll be because if a dealer fitted it originally they shouldhave done the full job. IT would be an iffy warranty claim for any other dealer because they probably couldn't claim back their time from Vauxhall. Basically, the original dealer SHOULD have done it and is the only dealership likely to do it for free. A search on this forum should dig up the instructions if you want to do it yourself...but 2.5 hours sounds right from what I rememebr of the length of instructions!

ok, IF the window does not go UP enough, (or is jammed too much into the rubber seal here's how you fix it: remove the door lining, detach the plastic sheet to expose the winding mechanism.... undo the coin-size round ali bit that acts as the stopper for the "scissors" movement, and adjust it so to allow a bit more upper travel. such coin-like spacer is bolted off its own center, so rotating it will offer a precision setup.... this will fix the problem MUCH better than playing with in-out screws, that usually only do marginally.....

See Coolio's post (Jan 22nd, 2004 16:29)

cool....better explained than I can do...
this is the part:

1. Open door. (doh... )
2. Remove silver insert trim from door panel. (I would not do it, will break easily)
3. Cut water deflector carefully for access to eccentric adjuster.
4. Mark position of eccentric (see Picture IX, 1). (the coin-like ali thing...)

5. Loosen tightening screw of eccentric (tightening screw is
installed from the back side).
6. Adjust eccentric and fasten tightening screw.
7. Close window – if necessary install window crank.
8. Close door and check height of window – if necessary repeat
adjusting procedure.
9. Apply sealing tape to cut on water deflector and refit silver
insert trim to door panel.
10. Open door.
11. For adjusting inclination of window, turn the front and the rear
adjusting screw in lower door area (see Picture X, 1 and 2)
(Do not over adjust or screws will detach from threads).

so from what I am reading from the thread....you only have to remove the middle silver trim to access the ecentric..... does that mean you dont have to take the whole door trim off? I have just had my windows adjusted on the VXR...and I am sure they said they had to take the whole door trim off... can someone confirm ? Mani

Those instructions were supposed to be taken directly from the TIS CD.
On that basis...it appears confirmed!
