Guy from USA bought a crashed Evora and is documenting the rebuild. From the looks of the front, good luck to him. For the Evora boys maybe some insight into removing the roof so you can have a VX :P "B is for Build - Lotus Evora Unveil" https://youtu.be/g51IAahllzY https://youtu.be/L-669QBc3-s

I admire his enthusiasm and for that matter optimism! I suppose he could get his money back in breaking it if it came to the worse.

getting spare parts is the problem with Lotus , everything they have goes on the production line.

Be curious to see if the concept of a separate front section actually makes it easier to repair. Slightly scared about him talking about welding aluminium, however as the Evora's mostly pressed ali rather than extruded, it should be relatively easy to fabricate new sections.

Does the Evora have an aluminum based crashbox, or was the crashbox in front of the aloy part he wants to repair?

Front is a detachable crash structure. The part in front of the wishbones is designed to crumple.

His budget was about 13k USD iirc.

So he's gonna weld that crashbox, instead of replacing it.

you would't need much of a front impact to tweak one of the arms on that crash box would you?

And when you do, its a whole new front end, suspension an all.

Interesting rear bald tyre for a rear wheeled drive, probably contributed to the crash.

nice vid .

Typical lotus.. Tools dropped and lost in the engine bay and bleeding arms by the end. Nothing changes..

Evora's in yellow, the red neck cousin of the silver VX.
