There is a very old thread covering all the wiring etc for cruise control, but the search function cannot locate it :ffs:

But as Arno quite rightly states the vx220 z22se map does not have the cruise control function, it was tried and did not work

Don't know if it's this thread I started 6 years ago.

Glad there's progress on this now. Don't care if it's a sports car for the twisties, there's always motorway to do and cruise makes it far less tedious.

Do you know exactly which pin type it is? I have never had a closer look at the contacts so I don't know what they look like.

I'd be interested in this mod. If anyone sources the terminals I'd like 3. Seems a little ott to buy a whole loom for 3 terminals.

If you visit your nearest scrappy and find a Corsa C 1.2 16v (Z12XE), a very common model now rotting away in many scrap yards. It has the same ECU as the Z20LET so just liberate a couple of pins from the ECU plug.

I think a small kit of parts , section of multicore to run from dash , the tricky part is finding a cable run which minimises taking off trim parts and either go though the sills, or via the hand brake tunnel and through the bulkhead same as gear cables.

also chances are the ecu will have the security bolt to drill out

I used Tyco Micro Fit female terminals. They are square, where as the correct ones are round, but that's what we use at work on our tracking systems and they fitted very well. Alarm or phone multi-core works well, I ran it via the hand brake cable route. Easy job, fiddly but we'll worth the effort for motorway driving.

I now have a Corsa loom and plug. What's the best way to liberate the pins when you have opened up the plug? I gently pulled out a few pins and refitted them, and it seemed OK, but there must be a better way to remove the pins? And I'm really worried about opening the car's loom plug because I think I will break it...

The tricky bit is splitting the ECU plug and inserting the new connectors, no guide would give me the confidence to do that and believe the car would work afterwards.  Modifying and fitting the stalk and running the wiring are straightforward, if fiddly and time consuming.  You also need decent soldering skills.

Did 800 miles over the weekend, 98% on cruise.  It's a real benefit to me.  It stopped working a couple of times, first when I'd spent 50 miles on white roads and secondly after I'd hit the gas hard on the M40.  I'm thinking it has a little tremble if the ECU detects wheel spin.
