Hi All,

I am looking to replace all of the roof/door/window seals, as they are all pretty much shot on my VX (NA).

Is the replacement difficult, how are they fixed on? Before anyone says search for yourself you lazy person I have had a search on here

already and the place to go seems to be:-

http://www.deroure.c...&SMO=0&ST=&SC=0

I note they are rather expensive though - are there any cheaper places to go? Also, do all the seals on this page fit

the VX - I note the diagram is an elise?

I noticed these on the elise-shop website:-

http://www.elise-sho...1-p-502333.html

They are a bit cheaper but is this only the outer part of the window seal?

I have had a quick look on ebay, but all I can see is a second hand inner door seal.

Thanks in advance

Seals arent 'cheap' and are obtainable from Paul at chirstopher neil's if you are very nice and ask politely he may be able to do a deal if you are ordering all of them.

Easy to do as it's just a case of removing old and giving the areas a proper clean to remove contaminants. Getting it in the exact correct spot is abit trickier but a dry run should help show which bits are difficult/key.

Hi,

Thanks for that. Just to be sure - are the following seals on Deroure all suitable for the VX (considering they are advertised as Elise parts)??

Rear Roof Seal: 8 Part Number A117B0201F £79.12
Front Roof Seal: 7 Part Number A116V0273F £99.24
RHS Door seal: 5 Part Number B117U0010F £45.26
LHS Door Seal: 6 Part Number B117U0009F £45.26

Cheers

The door seals are fine.  I bought a pair a couple of years ago.  All you have to do is separate the outer part from the inner part as the Elise has a one part seal and on the VX they are separate.  Re-use your existing inner part and trim slightly the new outer part.  It'll be obvious when you get them.  And a simple job.

The front roof seal will be fine as it has an A116 part number meaning it's actually a VX specific part.

Sure someone else will confirm the rear seal for you.

For anyone who wants to know, I messaged Deroure and they confirmed they are suitable for my VX

In the world of NLA parts, I fear June til November is rather a long time...

I need new outer seals for the VX windows. Does anyone know if these are still available or in stock anywhere - eitehr the Lotus items or the genuine vxl?

If not, has anyone used the Elise Shop ones posted above?

And failing that... anyone got any good used ones that they'd be willing to sell?

I'm assuming you're referring to the S1 versions linked above (didn't realise they were S1 when I posted - thought they were S2).

Any idea on stocking of S2/Vxl parts elsewhere?

These window seals have rocketed in price. They are now quoting between £112 and £114 each plus vat.

I had a closer look at the seals today. I reckon we are being ripped off by Lotus particularly as the seal material is a pretty standard strip. Its the bracket glued onto the end that makes it unique to the vehicle. As far as I can tell the bracket will have been glued in place with a form of contact adhesive. If we can separate the two parts ie the seal from the bracket moulding we should be able to find an automotive seal supplier somewhere who will sell us lengths that we can cut to size for a fraction of the cost of the assembled part.

I spoke to Autovaux recently at that stage there no LH seals left in Germany for the VX and only about 10 of the RH seals at about £60 each.

There are a couple of specialists out there :

Sounds like either a home made part or an early iteration. The ones I have are moulded in place.

I'm on with this, sadly not as easy as you would think. All the profiles I have found so far sit on the top of a vertical door top, ours come round and are horizontal and hence not common profiles. But I'm working on a solution with the help Of FLD. Sent from my SM-G903F using Tapatalk
