Done an oil change, does anyone know if this is a B207 or Z22SE sump?

Nice new gold/yellow oil:

Put this padded sticky tape under the handbrake cable to prevent rattling because the old sticky tape was peeling off:

You can see where the parking brake cables and gear cables rest on the stick foam tape:

Big thanks to Joe (Batman) for replacing this:

Really works well, because it is folded under the bonnet/boot strut it means the strut doesn't get hot anymore, works really well.

The nimbus heat shield works well, I was driving around for two hours today and the cake that was in the boot stayed cool:

Got some oil ready for my track day tomorrow, hopefully won't use much of it though but just in case, I use small bottles so I don't spill it. Also Joe noticed my header tank is leaking a tiny amount so I'm taking some coolant just in case some escapes. I think it's the cap that's is leaking.

Because I've decided to look after my car as much as I can myself I've decided to document every oil change etc.

However the probability of those leaking is now x 6 as great.

On the contrary, I find highland spring bottles amongst the best. Also another way of looking at it is if one does leak it's less oil and I don't spill it all over the engine when I try and fill up like I did today changing the oil.

So I employed Joe to help me remove the clam, couldn't have done it without him, 5 bolts were seized!

I then set about fitting two new cheap fans to the radiator - may not be the prettiest way and Joe didn't approve but it cost me around £40 and they work well enough.

Joe spotted a leaking hose and amazing a delivery driver had just delivered two of the exact hoses I needed so Joe replaced them for me:

I've never liked the way you can see the Toe Eye bracket and other parts behind the grill:

Posted ImageIMG-20161121-WA0008 by Richard Fanders, on Flickr

So I painted the toe eye bracket black and fitted a fine aluminum black race mesh to the crash box:

Posted Image20161127_152358 by Richard Fanders, on Flickr

Posted Image20161127_160528 by Richard Fanders, on Flickr

Now you can't see anything behind the grill mesh, looks so much better:

Posted Image20161128_124025 by Richard Fanders, on Flickr

Looks even better with a red toe eye but unfotunately this one is not long enough because my stainless steel bracket doesn't stick out as far as the OEM bracket so I will probably need to get one specially made.

At least you now know how to take the clam off for when you have to replace the two "cheap" fans. :)

I think I'll pay Joe to do it for two reasons. It ideally needs to hands, I don't have a drive or a garage and it's a real pain to do. We'll see how long they last, I have faith in them, they're just fans.

Any close up pics of the mesh, it looks great but won't it block air from passing through the radiator?

It looks really good close up because when you're looking down on it you see less through it and it hasn't appeared to affect my cooling at all. I will get a close up next time it's light if I remember.

I can confirm the mesh definitely doesn't restrict airflow. Done around 1000 miles in varying conditions with no problems.

Been one the road with me since August, bought it with 52,000 and something miles on the clock, turned over to this on the way home from the MOT. I'm proud I've got this much use out of it, I use it more than my old one. The Z4M really made me appreciate how good these little cars are.

6000 miles in 6 months is good, that's more than some VX's travel in 6 years.
