I recall during the Lotus factory tour the chap who took us round mentioned the firm who do bodywork for Lotus. Somewhere down south...

The paint's in pretty good nick and I'm not getting her out of storage until the end of next year, but how much do you reckon they'll quote me for a full body respray, once I have remembered their name?

My insurance paid over £2000 to fit and paint a front clam. I wouldn't expect any change from 4k..

It's going to be SORN until 2018 and I am working out the budget to make it perfect when it comes back to life.

Unless my operation later in the year goes wrong, in which case I will be signing up to Invacar.org.

Or unless my wife finds out what I'm planning, in which case I will sign up to eunuch, org.

It could be Allon White Sports Cars. Lotus and Morgan specialist near Milton Keynes. Lotus outsourced all their upholstering to them apparently. So they may also have the respray / bodywork contract. Or at least know who does.

I've enquired at a couple of places in Essex over the last six months (both have seen the car) and they both quoted £3k ish for a full respray. No real issues to deal with except for a little bubbling on the front clam. One of them quoted an additional £500 or so for a colour change, including whatever needs to be done additionally to the insides of the panels. I've used one of them for a minor repair to the VX before and they did a good job, and they've also sprayed other cars for me in the past. I've never used the other body shop but they're Lotus specialists and I'd be happy to use them after seeing some of their work. I'm still weighing up whether I need a full respray or not.

@Rman - of course you need a full respray.

@Ken - I had a lovely 10 minutes day dreaming of a Morgan on that site... Thank you.

Thank you to everyone who recommended garages. I will stick 3.5k on the budget sheet.
