Try *How to* CV Inner boot replace thread in guides and tutorials.

Do it yourself... the weather's nice and anyone half decent (PSR, Essex Autosport etc)  will have a wait time.

A super easy job, allbeit messy

I may give it a go if you think it's easy, I'm worried I'd take the drive shaft out and then lose all my oil from my diff.

Even I did it and it's still fine a few years on... go on... give it a whirl....

Sheesh - what is it with you and obsessing over oil loss? :D

Haha, I'm worried about oil loss because I'm told it's normal and others say I shouldn't have any, so I want to see what people actually experience. If most use oil then it must be normal.

But then again most K series blow head gaskets but that doesn't make it right :D

I raised this exact thread last month... has all the information and I managed to do it myself in about 4 hours, so a garage should do it in 2.   http://www.vx220.org...t-where-to-buy/

I was told 1.5 hours so about right.

You will have to buy your own grease as the stuff which comes with this is not enough and to thin

I don't think I'm going to attempt this. Looks like the kind of job that would be easy with a lift and very hard laying on the floor.

You can hcoose between a kia sedona cv: 0 K55 22 2540

Or a volkswagen: 1KO 498203

Inner cv needs 150 grams of grease.

Outer cv needs 130 grams of grease.

If you track the car, it is advised to add a breather, so hot air can escape.

If you want top of the line grease, get something like Redline CV-2 (up to 260 degrees, about 30 eur a jar)

If you want the ferrari of greases, get NEO HPCC1 (up to 649 degrees, about 170 euro a jar)

That's good information, the guide says you need to remove the wishbone ball joints to do the work but later someone else says you can get away with removing only the toe link. Don't really want to go removing the ball joints. To be honest I don't understand most of it as I don't know what's some of stuff means so I may get a garage.

You will also not like the breaker bar routine for the central wheel nut.

Just take it to a garage indeed.

(don't forget to tell them to jack it up as high as possible, to minimise oil from gearbox spil)

If you have a gearbox breather tube, tell them they can also use that to fill her back up. (slow though)

Again, there is no fcuking oil to spill if you don't pull the inner joint from the box, just pop the clip out and it all slides out.
