So got the boot, went and bought some tools today that I think I'll need. Might actually try this.

How would you describe your execution of the "part shaft" version of the cv join replacement? (besides your little balljoint adventure)
Easy to keep the balls in place with just the greace while putiing on the new rubber?

Here is a link to the CV boot guide written by slindborg, I will post some pictures on his guide soon.

I finally managed to put the photos on Slindborg's guide.
The worrying thing is, I've noticed that same boot was replaced only a year ago in the service history. Also, it was only a tiny hole.
Hopefully this one holds out better. Maybe the fact I use it regularly will help as it doesn't get stuck in one place for too long. Who knows?

Most wear fast due to heat (tracking), or the shite angle of the CV when the VX is lowered.

I read the updated guide.
How did you get on with holding the balls in place with just greace, and putting the shaft back in?
One man job, or need 2?

The car has hardly been used over the last year.
I did it on my own, the balls stayed in easy, I just used copious amounts of grease and smeared it around the out side of the balls in the cage which kept everything stuck together.

Good read.
Noticed your bear ubend.
You may want to put some heattape on that, with the shield missing.
Ubend is very near the tyre. (vx even had an early recall with heat killing the rear rim)
