Hi all, putting my sold top on and one of the cables just snapped right at the end (pic below).
Any suggestions on a fix? I can't even work out how it attaches onto the rigid end bar - does it need drilled out?
Please help as soon as poss, it'll rain soon and my VX lives outdoors :-(

You need a new cable - it's crimped and not fixable ( I have had to try as a quick fix -unsuccessfully ) Best to fit the new improved version × 2 available from EBlay or someone on the forum ( search?)

Do you know how the end fixes to the swivel point? Does it need drilled out or does the bar need disassembled and unbolted from the inside of it?

Very small countersunk socket head screw , bit tricky to change but the new cables are looped so don't get bent double and damaged in the process, if you only change one do the front ' cos if that goes as mine did its roof off or 25 mph😠,have a guess what the weather was like when this happened. PS electricians access rods ( mine anyway) have the same thread and make the fitting way easier 👍

Different design so should not snap in the same place as the OE one.

 

You should just be able to join your current broken end to the new cable and then pull it through, though this method didn't work for me as the seam was too tight. I had to use a straightened metal coat hanger to drag the new cable through.

Cheers James. I may actually be Ok. Looking at the forecast it seems fine until Saturday. With luck, the one I ordered will arrive Friday and I can fit it Friday evening. Fingers crossed.
