Must be an isolated incident surely? Look like aftermarket parts. Gt3 has same strut tops and granite like suspension.

Typical Audi dealer games going on, they want me to deposit a TTRS build slot but can't/won't tell me how much any of the options are.

Having looked into it myself I reckon the louder sports exhaust will be extra, 20 inch wheels, dynamic pack? Maybe metallic paint?

I wouldn't want to pay any more than 50k for a TT, and at that price I'd want it well specced.

I'm wondering whether the 0-60 time of 3.7 secs is down partly to the clever launch system it has, in all of the reviews I've seen so far none of them are talking about massive mid range grunt, although I'm sure it's not slow. But they are saying it's supercar quick, would it really outpace a supercar from 50mph upwards?

Anyhow, I think my choice is going to be a 981 Cayman, thank you everyone who has contributed, might take some time to find the right car as I'm hoping for one that's got the extras I want. Namely sports exhaust, full leather, good sound system, PASM.

Got to speak to the missus about upping the budget a little, wish me luck.

Tim

The ttrs will be quick off the line no doubt, with like you say with clever launch systems and all wheel drive but no it would not outpace a supercar once rolling, unless heavily modified of course. It's like most these hot hatches with 4 wheel drive like the s3, rs3 and golf R, the stats look great because they can get off the line quick with their high tech wizardry.

Tt has a great chassis but no steering feel. My pal had a 2010 TTRS it's quick very impressive machine but after a couple of hours whizzing about its a pretty boring car.

How about marcos or ginetta?  Under budget and not likely to depreciate.

The G40 looks quite nice Matt but the fit/finish and all round reliability still isn't where it should be from what I've seen.

I just prefer the way a modern car drives, plus i want something the missus can drive is she has to on the odd day.

She won't drive my Z3, the bonnet's too long apparently.

She didn't drive my last Cayman because the clutch was too heavy for her, probably go PDK this time.

Sounds like you need a new woman as well as a new car.

Both TTRS and R8 are fast in RL experience of meeting them on the road, never met a Porsche that was proper fast (though i think that might be more to do with the owners of them).

Not everyone wants to race on a public road, I certainly wouldn't even if I had the fastest car made.

dont buy a v8 r8.. you will be really disappointed with the power

if i had 50k to go blow on a car and it wasnt for track and road i would probably get something like this:

http://www.pistonhea...rb-2006/5827390

or if you can push the budget to 60k

That's a shame, you're not the only person I've heard say exactly that.

I could push the budget slightly and get into a V10 but many people say they don't like the R8's.

I've wanted one for ages but now doubting it.
