Rad surround d came off ok - had to drill a few screws out so will replace all with stainless when she goes back together...

Do that brings us back up to date - I’ll try and keep this up to date going forward too!!

Spent tonight fitting the new rad fan to the new rad. Direnza rad is great, but lists were fitted in the wrong place so had to grind them off and fit a Elise parts fan mounting kit.

All set up p and ready to go!!

Also cleaned out the heater battery compartment, reading for the new heater to go in.

Last job tonight was to get the new T7 heater put together. Cut down the hoses and fitted the diverter valve, and also fitted the brackets to the bulk head. Really great bit of kit, but didn’t get photos - so will post tomorrow.

Do tomorrow’s job - fit the new heater and get the battery back in. Then later I the week get the new rad in. Still need to drill out and tap the clam bolt I hacksawed yet too!!

Heater now sat in place, really good piece of kit with milled aluminium brackets to hold it in place.

The old plug on the loom is different to the heater, so needs changing:

All fitted, hoses connected and battery back in.

Air ducting on and all installed - battery connected and fan tested. Works on all 3 speeds!! Good, because I don’t fancy taking it all out again!!

On with the front rad. A couple of the screws holding on the rad surround needed drilling out, so I replaced all the resting clips whilst changing the rad.

New clips on the rad too

Before the clam goes on, need to drill and recap one of the M8 bots on the bottom front

Posted Image

Getting there now, one of the hose clamps for the new hoses failed, so decided to change them all for brand new ones. Don’t want to take this clam off again for a while!! Also, new tow post fitted courtesy of Type116 motorsport,

Before the clam goes on for the last time, taking time to tap out all the threads whist its apart, and also clean up the mating surfaces...

Much cleaner now!!!

Also filled the coolant up, did it via the header tank but only took about a litre before full, and the rad was still empty. Maybe it’s because the car is slightly elevated at he front. So, took off the rad bleed nipple and filled another 3 litres in there!!! Still not totally full, but good enough for a run around the block after it’s finished to shake the bubbles out and then top up!!

One more job whilst the clam is off. The front bonnet bracket had slight surface rust which used to annoy me, so took the chance to clean it up and get it painted.

Clam now back on, found one of the rib nuts holding the front undertray had its thread stripped and the others didn’t feel great so as it was off decided to replace them all.

Out all day today, so a cheeky 20 minutes before making tea saw the lights get fitted back in. It’s only when working closely with these do you realise what a poor fit they are into the body!!

You will remember earlier the the thread the rusty HID connections, these were all stripped down and cleaned up and now the lights work perfectly!!!
