Decided against the boat in the end. If it had been midweek it would have made sense to save a day off work etc but on the Saturday the price was notably higher than the Eurotunnel to the point where me and Mrs S are now going over on Saturday and staying in Ghent en route, and its still cheaper.

Where we live using the ferry only saves about 90 miles and its actually 5 hours quicker driving home from Zandvoort than using the boat.

just looked on aferry for options , dfds dover-dunkirk , 10th-12th 08:00 and 20:00 crossing its showing as £72 .

We paid £57 each way, the ferry one way was £135 plus £54 for a cabin.

 

Sorry Miss S thought you wouldn't want it to look like a family holiday now your a big girl!  Proper family holiday though, eh!!
