New. Dropped off from the factory in numbers the dealer is tied into. Stuck in an overflow field until they can find a buyer.

They are certainly out there - next few months will see the best pickings for sure although a few dealers that have better cash liquidity might hang on til spring as they've just put a 5% price increase through on all new factory orders.

The issue is the gearbox which means the engine eeds limiting to low 400nm - bhp can be higher but torque is the issue. That's why you can get 460bhp Komotec conversions, but torque is around 390-420nm. So whilst the engine could be good for 550bhp with the right SC and pulleys etc, it will need a seriously upgraded gearbox, then everyone would moan if it wasn't double clutch etc and 18 speed etc so the price would rocket as the current gearbox is in comparison cheap as chips...

What's the chocolate part of the gearbox? Is it not something that can be upgraded ?

The V6 is identical in pulling power to a 250bhp SC VX. I had many playful laps on track at Hethel year before last with a V6 owner who had previously owned a VX. No quicker through the corners either. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Still would own the v6 ;-) it's a true lotus feeling.. darkside does strange things As much as I loved my vx, it's just got that old car feeling to it. Nothing to do with speed anymore for me, it's new, smooth and modern.

I don't believe so. It's a stock Toyota truck box and I believe that Lotus know they need to source a different gearbox to go much higher torque wise. Sorry I cannot be more exact. My technical knowledge and skillset is on a par with a chocolate teapot for effectiveness!

I'm sure it has been discussed at length on SELOC and TLF forums.

My VX is quicker than my Exige on track.

It's partly the way I drive them, partly the confidence I have in the VX after 20+ track days, partly that the exige is on road rubber, partly the fact I dont want to fcuk my clutch and the vx on 48s.

HTH :D

I get the appeal to some, just not me. I like old, analogue, stick shift, no TC etc. In fact if I was going to the dark side it would be with an S1 Exige. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So effectively the extra 100 bhp advantage is lost through the extra weight it carries? I am surprised the sc vx can keep up I must say. Still it's not all about outright pace, I think they look the nuts for starters!

So to try to get back on topic, rather than compare willy sizes on v^ Exiges v SC or Tubby VX's, what are the deals people are getting on new V6 Exiges out there?

Snows had a red sport 350 up recently for that 1 owner sub 1k miles from memory. Base spec but still a very good buy. They also had a low mileage club racer at 45 which I'd have likely bought if i hadn't pulled the trigger on mine.

There are far too many variables to make a straight line pace comparison on track. I used to hang onto evos and scoobys all day long on straights on track when I had my 172 but in a straight pull at the same time it would get left for dead. In the same way a pretty handy driver Ive tracked with could easily keep me at bay or kept up on the straights with a 140bhp Elise S2 despite me having 120bhp more in the Exige. He was just better getting on the gas. On the way back on a cheeky little DC roll on mine pulled away comfortably.

Yep, 10k down and £470 a month over 3 years with balloon. Seems cheap but mulling it over

Bet the balloon was big at the end. And it's still £27k outlay over 3 years. You could buy 2 VXs for that and still get your money back after three years....possibly more.
