I'd suggest a Jimny.
They can rust pretty badly, lift the rear seat up, and carpet, and check under there.
I only sold one Terrios, big prep bill and didn't drive very nicely.
Grand Vitaras ok, but I think the Jimny is better looking.

Jimny soft tops are built in Spain and are far inferior to the hard tops. Good sturdy reliable things but fcuk they're slow!

I had a first model Kia Sportage, so up to 2003, and it was brilliant. Had it for a couple of years and had no problems. Sturdy, well made, good engine and cheap. You'll get a lovely one for 800 to 1000

Had a week driving 2000 miles around Iceland in a diesel burning Dacia duster
Was really impressed economical and never struggled on some real sh*t dust roads
Would get my vote it I was after s reasonabke nearly new 4x4 👍🏻😀

How much you looking to spend Mike? If you want something car-like, Suzuki now do a Swift in 4x4.

The Jimny seems to be a very capable wee thing. Friend who's a gamekeeper has one. We even managed to fit a stag in the back once!

Think Panda 4X4 is a good shout, but not sure you'll get one for your budget Mike. From your list, I'd go for the Jimny. Proper utilitarian but great bits of kit.

One thing to be aware of is that you can't run the Jimny in 4wd on the road as there is no centre differential so you get transmission windup [unless there is sufficiently low grip to allow the wheels to independently spin to prevent windup].
