had this for a year and a half (435d)

but we both work from home so it never got fully used and even when you did, it spent most of its time trying to make me drive at 1500 revs, even though it had 320 bhp and in a straight line was quicker than the vx, so we have got rid and now have this---

Mini Cooper S, auto, all the quick bits ticked, chili pack, adaptive suspension etc. . No looker, our first 4 door for over 10 years and some silly things inside but

its feels well built, great ride even on 18's and fun to whizz around in. (Colour was my wifes choice and I am aware than I now look like the oldest gay in the village!)

I daren't say, but have to come clean in that in 18 months she never damaged the 19's on the BMW, but I did two wheels!

Have had rear and 4 wheel drive for years now, forgot how daft front wheel drive is, but am enjoying my first ever hot(ish) hatch.

I only keep getting new cars now, as with Lauren working at BMW/Mini we get special deals on car leases as family that made it daft to actually own a car.

Have to say the quality feels very good but why do BMW insist on making leather steering wheels feel like cheap plastic ones?

Have to say, though BMW made cars pretty well all look sh*t, have dysfunctional auto wipers, terrible heating systems and plastic steering wheels, the engines and gearboxes are great and their autos with paddle shifters are very impressive.

Ps Its a silver white which can, occasionally, in just the right light, sort of, look interesting.

As a confirmed original mini fan I can't come to terms with the look of these new 4 door minis. Surely it should be called a Maxi? Why not a 1-series? Correct wheel drive and less ghay?

A 1 series is a full blown, design challenged BMW. Having had one of there finest for a year and a half I don't want another, was going to buy a Golf Gti or something, as we both work from home and really didn't need some large coupe any more (had A5, M3 etc before) and the wife fancied a mini (and 4 doors) so here we are (Its a BMW but sort of not quite).

Martin

ps Sorry this wasn't Exige related James and Mark.

Much better Chris, the GP is meant to be quite a lively 'little' car.

It's a shame the latest generation mini looks all wrong. What were they thinking with the rear lights. Just be thankful you didn't get the clubman. Still a nice bit of kit though.

I think it looks fine as a 3 door. It is rather more challenging aesthetically as 5 imo, but probably marginally better than the clubman.
