Good stuff Rob, now get the engine and dsg in the vx220 😉 DG

Not sure I can afford to buy a VX DG! Have you completed any more VAG conversions?

Ken : I'll never get a car with any sort of biscuit flavoured interior; it's one way to ensure massive depreciation ;)

Cheers James, it had 10 miles on the clock so naturally I'm going to run it in carefully   An A6 is far too dull for your requirements!

Same as our M140i, 10 miles and only just got to the 1200 end of running-in mileage which is supposed to have a 4500rpm which i think we respected almost to the letter.

A6 was great when we had a baby, don't need all the space now. I think a sport back s3 with a 2L engine will be perfect compromise between economy and performance. (the M140 isn't very good on on fuel, averaging about 22mpg and its been capped at 4500rpm ) It is an absolute hoot though and way too fast.

Kind of retired for the last couple of years tbh, 3 boys (6,3 & 1) now along with house move and big diy house renovations mean little time for cars 😞 Should have made the jump some years back from corporate life to doing car full time I have a 2015 spec rs3 5 pot and the 7 speed dsg which was one of my 40th presents 😎 and solid plan was to put in my already converted mid engine rwd 1.8 20vt Renault 5........but I am on the fence with buying an old vx project car bk and dropping it in that but as always it's justifying the money when the kids consume it so well 😊 Still have the ikle race car but again not really getting out much Had a few people interested in the tfsi conversions but not pushed it DG

It's not Luke's old yellow VX is it?

I shall pop in and see you next year DG (with the satsuma in tow), been a while since I last saw you and the family. I'll have to meet the 'new' addition too....:D

So the M140 is too quick you reckon JG? Can it put that power down okay though and how involving is it?

I'm not sure I'm going to buy the age old running in process, I'll probably treat it like any car...give it enough miles into a drive for things to get 'up to temperature' and then drive it fairly hard (I didn't say fast mind!).

The M135i is a bugger for spinning up on cold and greasy roads, probably the fault of the pilot super sports in fairness. M140i similar I imagine. I love the way it gently drifts with real control if you leave it in comfort but turn off everything it reminds me of my old S Type R without the weight shifting about. Golf R will be a weapon in the real world of crappy weather and lumpy roads.

Actually it's amazing how much traction it can find. The TC is intervening all the time in the current weather but it's barely noticeable. Also quite surprising how aggressive you can be it won't let you slide at all with all the systems on. I thought it would require far more care. We're on run flats too which despite all the critisism have been pretty good (until you meet concrete motorway where they are absolutely fucking terrible). It occurred to me on a drive earlier, it's lighter than an e46 m3, more powerful with a better gearbox and isn't far off on feedback and control. In fact they feel quite similar. And these days it's a cooking hatchback, available for £28k new, service every 20k miles and a fairly reasonable 28-30mpg. Anyone complaining about modern car industry needs a rethink. I like it more than my exige as a package  Would love to take it to Spa, where I'm certain of would be faster than the sc vx.(and the drive there will be a lot more pleasant too)

And I think an S3/Golf R would be suitably different to justify the two. Bit like the exige and the vx
