Cheers Nelly, is it the thinnest of paint finishes on the RS? I'll look closely tomorrow.

Yes fiRSt batch had new owners refusing to accept cars even after the dealers had pdi'd them, With orange peel, scuffs and fisheyes in the paint !! Poor show for a 30k plus car, one dealer told the customer it's a ford not a Ferrari, he told the dealer to FRO

Have you considered an Astra J vxr, fits four people in comfort and quite rare on the road  thumbsup

The Golf R is bland and boring, plus over priced for what it is. Many R owners have swapped to the Astra and preferred it :ninja:

Depends how you want to buy it. Cheap leases for £275 a month but they are very basic with no options. I got one with more than £10k of options as a new preregistration for about £28k, which is slightly under basic list price. You can get similar deals for brand new factory orders Engine is phenomenal. And competely bonkers in a one series. But in lower settings in behaves like 1.6 of you want it to and return 40mpg.

Agree with this for the type r and focus! If you're over 18 then would have to be the Golf out of those, but m140i surely the best of the bunch and as mentioned deals to be had.

Mmmmmm thinking long term the RS like Nellys in good nick with low miles is still bringing around mid £20K, couldn't have cost much more than that new ? What did you pay for yours Nelly B. Not sure about depreciation on the others TBH but that can be the biggest bill ever. Would you get much difference between them five years down the line ?

Paid 28k for mine six years ago, done 48k miles and still worth 21k, you can bet the mk3 will be a similar scenario in yeaRS to come ;-)

I would agree right up until driving the latest version / spec of dsg boxes......and why retaining on my rs3 5 pot conversion Not much more than software and decent intake and exhaust makes great power Cost depends on what you can source the required bits for and how handy you are in tweaking some bits 😊 DG

😂 So the guys with the low miles in mint going for £25K only lost £3k in six years, that's good going. Looking at the older RS Fords they will just go up and up in price. I may get one 👍😂
