Have you ruled them out for a reason? I believe they ship to Europe too. I had the pleasure of seeing one in the flesh as it were and the quality is spot on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

No, I think their quality is great.

But perhaps there is a cheaper alternative from a crashed car...

Give Jon a ring (Lotushardtops) we might have an original NA clam which has some damage on he may be willing to let go.

Oh yeah forgot about that :D

You'll spend more on fixing one up, painting it, it cracks, you paint it again etc

:yeahthat: JBs clams are good to go straight into paint from what I saw. Even oem clams required more prep! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Jons place, transported to mine place on the back of a wagon, cleaned, cut holes in the top, quick go over with a bit of sand paper to make sure all the lines were free from any release marks, washed, primed, painted i did NOTHING else..

Perfect fit.

Fibreglass pigments come in RAL colours if you could translate a paint code into that you could match. I suspect you'd have to blend pigment which would add a barrier to doing it but it could get close. Resin often darkens or has indicator in it which may affect the colour hence it would only be close. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

so would need to do a colour test with different ratios to see how they turn out is there any optical measuring equipment that can make it less hit/miss

Not that I'm aware of. It may be possible to convert a paint code into a RAL recipe but you'd need someone with some knowledge of that. I'm not sure how base paints are coded. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

apart from the matt material used, is the liquid element made in small batches , is that due to cure times and general handling? interesting bit of info , https://www.ecfibreg...xy-polyurethane

It has been a long time. After the good reputation here in the forum I decided to go for one. Meanwhile I refused a german guy who had offered me a white lotushardtops front clam for a really competitive price and decided to go for a silver gel coat one from the same company because I hate stonechips. I thought the surcharge is it worth. So I ordered one some weeks ago. Everything was fine, silver gel coat is no problem was the answer. I ordered a silver one, paid a silver one and after double the announced delivery time I received a white one... Awesome. I immediately contacted jon from lotushardtops. The answer made me speechless until today. No replacement possible, no refund. It is my problem because they offer painted gelcoat without extra charge... And he insist that they have send a silver one.... WTF?? I got a white one. It is the same like buying a car, paying in advance for a black one and receiving one in pink. Meanwhile I started to mount it one the car. What else should I do? Needless that nearly every mounting hole has to be widened. Yesterday I discovered a small crack on the site, where the parcel company has arranged it in their lorry... Awesome... Now I must search someone who will fix that. Ah and the indicator holes are so long I can nearly throw them through... It looks like an apprentice has made it. Perhaps I received the cheaper motorsport clam. I don't really know. I can really recommend it.

Lars these comments are really very unfair. I'm particularly frustrated that you are commenting on the quality of the clam. After 7 years and many many clams made and out there on cars to say it looks like an apprentice made it is just a terrible thing to say. If it was so bad and needed so many modifications you had it on the car within 24 hours of it getting delivered. And a crack discovered 2 weeks later?

The clam colour is a total mystery. We sent a silver clam I dont know what else I can say.

Here is a picture you sent me of a white piece of paper with a clam thats not white to my eye

And what appears to be a pretty decently fitting clam on your car

Sorry to say I think your comments are unjustified and unfair.
