You can buy z20let map files from eBay for something silly like £20.. very easy to doRight... but where does Rabbid state he uses Zafira GSI maps on a VX220? Or any other mapper for that matter? Rabbid is one of the most well known Vauxhall mappers and has mapped plenty of VX's. I'm just unsure where the assumption comes from that every other mapper seems to be using a Zafira GSI map...
If you open up the ecu file , you can see all the torque limiters and reserves for auto gearbox , power steering , aircon. If the engine response exceeds the torque ramp rate ( and on a lightweight VX versus a Zafira it will ) , then the ECU will intervene and you will get torque interventions which ruin the driveability and throttle response.
So purely because a mapper doesn't own a VX220, they use "generic maps from a Zafira gsi" as you always claim? Lol... Keep up the good work Andy, build looks sweet.If they don't own one, then are they using customer cars for development and testing , sounds like just generic maps from a Zafira gsi.

D-Dubs should have all his graphs, he keeps everything lol
Met with Dave on Saturday and went through what he was given, but the graphs were missing fuelling and boost. No before/after comparison so not possible to validate the claims.
He does supply them, I had mine (boost and fuel ratio)
Unfortunately I did file them where I do all my graphs LOL
Dave is going back so can ask for the extra sheets
He is well known for his knowledge so i can assure u its not a generic map. I sure he mapped the time attack cars too.
Do be fair all I wanted was smooth power delivery as the stage 4 struggles to delivers that, im happy with mine and has 310ft and boost is smooth so im happy. No idea if he adapts it because there is no power steering but the final result is good for me.
The dyno at this garage is accurate too, well reading some what lower than CS some 3 days earlier in identical temps.

Not had time to update progress lately as i've been flat out on the car.
The Charge cooler in situ with the home made bracket. Didn't realise just how tight it was going to be. I had to cut the bolt down that secures the turbo ear as it was fouling on the CC.
Charge cooler is now fully installed and running very well, the header tank was actually designed for the NA engine bay, Alex had it mounted in the boot previously so was never an issue for him. I do a fair bit of touring though so wanted the boot space, I made some alterations by grinding a bracket off, making a new mount that could secure to the boot lid support and moved the return hose inlet, looks nice and OEM now. The fuel line have had to be moved slightly but not a major issue.
The Pump is mounted at the lowest point in the engine bay.
This is the finished look, pretty pleased with how everything is routed, I added quite a bit of hose to up the overall volume of the CC system. The new intake pipe is fitted with the AEM dry filter too. I also fitted a small K&N rocker breather filter to the original hose.
Just need to fit a new towing bracket and the clam is ready to go back on this weekend.
Also fitted some brake ducting whilst the clam was off.
Just a few finishing touches to get done this weekend like re-painting the V, fitting front clam and bleeding the brakes then it's in for mapping at Rabbid on the 4th of April.

hate to bring bad news, but on the chargecooler picture, see where the horizontal weld, meets the corner weld, it looks like the vertical weld has split which is the classic place on the PA they fail on that edge. , or it might just be the shadow

Yeah that's what I used, then wired in a relay to allow the pump to run for some time once the ignition is turned off.

So the car is now finished and back on the road, been too busy driving it to finish the thread.
Fitted the Matthew Bentley 1" ARB a while ago but forgot to get any pics, not had a chance to push the car so haven't noticed any difference as yet although i'm sure it will be much better on track.
Had a few things to tidy up prior to the clam going back on, first of which was the knackered captive nut in the sill. I used a grinder to cut the head off the clam bolt, pushed it through into the sill and got it out. I bought a rubber riv nut which did the job and pulled up well against the clam.
Cleaned up the wheel arches and replaced the towing eye as mine was bent out of shape.
Painted the V Whilst the clam was off.
Front clam back on.
I had the brakes refurbished and painted whilst the car was off the road, in hindsight I shouldn't have bothered as they were fine, they took forever to get back and have been a bit of a nightmare to bleed for some reason, they do look nice though!

So the last few days were a bit of a rush but the car was put back together and tested prior to mapping. I took it to Rabbid remaps in Basingstoke for the mapping, Richard seemed to be knowledgable having tuned many Vauxhalls and VX220's in particular. I drove it there with the MAF meter unplugged and the standard injectors installed so it was just a case of fitting the 630cc injectors and plugging in the MAF when I arrived. He did a few calculations and altered the map before the first run. He's not the most talkative chap and I wasn't allowed in the booth where the RR was so didn't get much of an idea as to how it was performing but he must have done about 6 or 7 runs making alterations to the map each time. He did mention that this was the first VX he'd done with a charge cooler and he was very impressed with the IAT's, he was doing back to back runs and the highest temp was 25 degrees so very happy with that! Ended up with final figures of 270bhp and 330 ft lbs of torque. Must admit I was expecting a little more peak power but I think the 2.5" exhaust is a bit restrictive.
First drive and any disappointment felt from the figures was instantly blown away, the car is spectacular! Completely different to how it was on the old CMS map, there's no longer a big surge of torque delivered in a lump, rather a progressive mind blowing wave of power! I was always pretty cautious with throttle application before but I can just plant the throttle even in low gears and get good traction with the lovely power delivery, the thing just takes off. It certainly doesn't need any more power, the K06 really does pull all the way up the rev range too, you don't get the feeling the power is falling away at 5500 RPM like it used to.
To be honest it's all a bit OTT for the road but the turbo is perfectly useable at low RPM, I had feared it may be a bit all or nothing but that isn't the case, it's useable around town etc. that is if you don't mind lots of boy racer waste gate noise!
Really want to get it on track now to get a real feel for the car, I have a feeling it's going to be pretty special. I set out wanting a bit more power and constant reliable IAT's and that's exactly what i've got. Chuffed with the results, these cars really are great! Massive thanks to Alex (Chicken Dippers) for not only supplying the parts but also answering loads of questions along the way, top bloke!
I would urge anyone wanting to a bit more from the car to get stuck in and do the work yourself, it's very rewarding, pretty straightforward and there's so many helpful people on hand. The only photo i've taken off it so far as i've just been driving when not at work!

Good to hear about a quality drivable map.
A bigger exhaust, improved inlet manifold, big airbox would all help your top end power as 270 is really very low for that turbo. Something(s) is strangling the breathing.

Thanks, I should probably add that the 270bhp is at the wheels, so think that makes it about right given the exhaust is a bit restrictive. As i said i'm very happy with that power and can't see me wanting any more to be honest.
Yeah it's a Cupra R splitter mate, was tempted to replace with a new one as it's full of chips and they're only about £40 but i just wanted to get it finished so didn't bother in the end.

Ah, that's much better then. What % tansmission losses did your mapper rely on? About 9% to 11% is the norm in 4th gear I think.
Also, even if you don't want more power, letting the engine breath better will mean you can use less boost (for lower IATs) and your rev range will be extended a good deal (which makes real world driving easier and faster as you can stay in the power band more easily). Also better economy.
I think as ChikenDippers says, you'll be used to 270 WHP in no time at all seeing as it's smooth.

Yeah makes sense, unfortunately it all comes down to money, I really need to get replacement headlights so that will be the next investment.
