I'm fine. All the safety gear did its job. Car is not so good. Looks like it might need a whole new chassis. An expensive hobby just got more expensive :(

Can't be bothered to edit so I've just added the session with the interesting bit.

Fun starts around 15:10 when I'm about to realise I have no brakes. The pedal failed and went straight to the floor, you can see me retry a couple of times before trying to scrub of speed by winding on steering lock.

Shame you never got to the first race but on the bright side the same failure in the middle of the pack could have been significantly worse for you and other competitors.

Any idea how it happened, I've just had a look at mine and the bolt seems pretty substantial. Did it Shear or did the split pin fall out?

We found the clevis pin in the foot well but no sign of the split pin. I'll have a look around the footwell and see if it's there otherwise I guess I'll never know how it happened to not be in the clevis pin. Not the kind of thing I'd expect to fail/fall out.

Mine looks like this so no chance of it falling out I hope.

Wow that's a huge crash, good you're in one piece. Up until that point the car looked great looked really fast into druids. Good luck.

Steve, yours looks fine. No idea how mine failed as I just don't understand how a split pin can fall out, unless it was fitted incorrectly in the first place. Never mind, sh*t happens, I'm fine and the car can be mended. Looking forward to getting back out on track!

Good news. The rear of the Caterham is undamaged so it just needs a long front which makes it economical to repair - the advantages of a welded steel tubular chassis!! Bad news. It ain't cheep so I think the vx will have to go up for sale shortly although I'm still not sure I can actually part with it :(
