Before and after.

The 3d cad prototype mounting bracket

The machined aluminum version

These brackets bolt to the existing rivnuts and the heater drops down into them, leaving the heater mounting screws accessible from above.

Careful, that may give idea to lotus engineers about tooling access!

No need, obviously  these are the Lotus factory crew members. Only way it could be assembled.

It wouldn't matter, they'd just make them out of something that'll rust away anyway.

That may be their plan all along : things rust away, leaving room for tooling access. GENIUS !

I pushed Adam on price and time scale a little today and this is largely what came out of the emails back and forward Adam has 50 pairs of CNC machined brackets and 100x Alloy spun cones already on their way. Total cost inc vat for a complete aluminium heater upgrade (inc the new bespoke anodized chassis, reversed VX compatible valve, Spal fan, wiring, core and milled aluminium mounts to suit lotus116 chassis etc) for the VX assembled ready to fit will be £300 plus shipping. I'm told when we see this unit fully anodised and assembled we will be quite impressed :) and of course it's backed by a heater specialist with a vested interest in these giving many years of reliable performance, hence the delay as it went from a simple idea to make their midi heater suit the VX to T7 designing and investing heavily in a custom unit entirely due to the number of guys who added their name to this list. Adams plan is to do this all in the next two months so we can get heaters .....erm, for the summer (though they do blow cold air harder than the Elite heater on the cold setting too). Looking forward. I really hope the LHD version design is symmetrically mirrored completely - not just the fitting, but the heather air outlet and mixing valving positions as well. Otherwise it won't fit properly.

The aluminium plate/cone arrangement can be bolted in on the opposite side so this will mirror the RHD cars layout, however the water outlet angle and the valve cannot be reversed, they are handed. This may not be a big issue but the suggestion is to send one of you guys with a LHD car a prototype to try this out and feed back.
