That's the idea, the list was really only to gauge what the demand would be like to justify the tooling etc. Still want mine first though! 😀

At what point does it become viable to start production? Ideally I would like a new unit to install whilst weather is good...

AFAIK he's started production and invested in all the parts needed except the plug and wiring. My opinion was not to worry about the electrical connections and get the heaters out, but then I have a garage full of loom making kit and this has to appeal to wider customer base. There were issues other than the valve, of which the supplier said 500 had to be made as a minimum order. Another bit of time was used as I know Adam first tried a design that had folded sides for the mounting points and was quite far along with it before moving to machined brackets to allow the unit to be fitted and removed from accessible screws and these are being manufactured by someone else. A small run would be easy to make, but I guess it's different making sure you build something that has a parts supply well into the future to support it without buying loads of stock and that can be easily adapted to LHD VXs and then other Lotus chassis to recoup the investment. .... Though I'm sure I speak for everyone by saying HURRY THE FECK UP :) lol

Personally I'd prefer to wait and make sure all the bugs are ironed out so that it's a fit and forget solution. Also making sure it has the correct connectors so it is s OEM as possible would be excellent.

 

You can't rush a good thing.

Looking at previous posts on here, I doubt it will be plug and play with the original loom connectors as I believe Fezz tried to source them for his design with no success. I think a little fiddling with the wiring will be a small price to pay to have a bespoke heater produced for us. I'm sure a commercially available connector is available for even the most technically inept of us to successfully use without access to specialised tools or soldering and T7 will supply this with the heater. After all, you can fix most things on a VX with a hammer and mole grips.😀 Cheers, Jon.
