Having raced in the Mag7's last year and hopefully this year if I pull my finger out and finish the engine....I have to say the sprinting was something very different but equally enjoyable. I wouldn't say i'd give up the Caterham at all but i'm certainly looking forward to doing more sprinting on the side as well in the vx.
Firthy it was good to meet you at the weekend, you'll have to let me know if you decide to do a time attack round as I wouldn't mind doing one myself. That's providing my next engine lasts more than 1/10th of a lap !

Yeah so basically Chris you have to go the fastest in as many rounds as possible. Did you tactically throw it last weekend? Keep the other guys on their toes?

Firthy, have you thought about Production BMW or Compact Cup? I wouldn't dismiss MX5s either, the racing is epic.

Yes like wise I'll keep you posted mate.... it says in the regs that its compulsory for soft top cars to have a roll cage. I have asked if they will accept a hard top lol so lets wait and see.
Might just stick to posh track days and my lap timer

Hi Foxy,
Yes I'm sure they're amazing, and I know its really good close racing likewise MX5's.
Racing is just such a huge commitment and frankly I'm not sure I can be arsed with it all. I've heard too many horror stories over the years cost wise following Mark, Elise trophy guys, Captain (Sorry mate not convinced its cheap), etc its such a slippery slope. People say you can do it on a budget, but I can guarantee I wouldn't be one of them.
Having done a few laps of Cadwell together I can't imagine you managed it on a budget either
When I said other options I should have clarified what I meant : which was other options for sprinting one lap banzai series!
I'd love to do Elise trophy but the cost is just mental, I don't think the series is very balanced either.
Just looking for a happy medium, still happy enjoy driving the VX on track days

Sorry I should replace horror for expensive
As Jon says its a shame you can't do more in a vx, as I really don't want to get rid of it... I just enjoy driving it too much

.., Captain (Sorry mate not convinced its cheap)...
You're right - In theory it can be cheap not stupidly expensive but it never is, it's expensive and very time consuming!
Track days are 90% of the fun at a fraction of the cost. I'd imagine sprinting adds the same competitive element and challenge but at a much lower entry price (plus you can use the VX).
Maybe time to add a roll cage to the VX if it opens up other sprint series?

Your analysis is spot on!
As the Captain says, theoretically it can (and has been) be done on a reasonable budget but that's still a fook of a lot of money and doing all the work yourself!
I don't agree that trackdays are 90% of the fun of racing though - 20% at a push - I imagine they're 99% of the fun of sprinting though Never got my head around the point of sprinting or TA.
