Hmmm, I have an LSJ ecu that has GM-LAN connections (for the GM instrument cluster). Think that is based on ISO 15765-2 CAN, need to check that.

Ah interesting

I was following the development on Seloc, but never thought it could make it on the VX...

Even more interested now.

Could the PWM input for the temp gauge be configured to work at a different frequency?

I choose to average the analogue value from the pwm instead of measuring the duty cycle of the pwm This allows it to work with both analogue and pwm inputs , What would be reason to change the frequency ? More background to the question please :-)
The vx220 Pwm output from the ecu is not linear in its behaviour so while the average value will give something, it won't represent the actual temp. There is a thread a page or so in from here with a link to some scope readings from it
The averaging of the analogue value will represent the duty cycle % in the same way . I used the Elise S2 k series to work out the pwm , which seemed pretty linear when tested with a pwm input to the cluster . I will test the original vx clusters temp reading vs pwm input .
To add more detail to this - I am moving to the Omex 600 ECU for my Webcon throttle bodied car in May and it is capable of being configured to output 1 PWM frequency of either 250, 125, 84 etc but not 100 which is what the Stack temp gauge uses.     However, thinking about this, if we are taking out the Stack dash, do we even need PWM for this?  The Webcon kit has two water temp sensors and I wonder if we can hook into either one of these to feed the new LCD dash?
I don't believe the frequency is critical for the stack dash , I have fed different frequencies into the cluster And it appeared to beahave the same , so 125 or 84 should work fine. Had anyone tried it ?

Another question is does the headlight noise sound when you leave the lights on and open the door? I know the the VX signals to earth when the doors are shut rather than the opposite so it's a pain trying to get anything to work here.

Sorry , headlight noise is gone .
Is there a way round this with your dash? It's so annoying with my digital dash now that the alarm won't sound when I've left my lights on. Fitting a alarm buzzer to the headlight switch/door popper doesn't work.
Not sure what the issue is here , i need to confirm the door switch states first , as i was sure its a normally closed switch
the door switches simply connect to ground. A buzzer with a 12v sourched from the lights power and switched to ground by the doors does the job. All needed connections are at the dash connector. https://www.speedste...tact switch.pdf
I've fitted 3 different types of buzzers with this method and after a couple of days the buzzers break and stick on making the alarm sound.
Probably needs a resistor inline to reduce the current

I know Webcon earlier couldn't get the temp signal to work with the Stack and their own ECU but I don't know if that was because of PWM etc.  I don't know of any Omex ecu being used on the VX.  TheHood has one but I don't know if he has fitted it yet

Can you get the EML symbol to come on randomly, like mine does every 6 months.  I find this a useful feature for keeping my bank balance in check.

Just an idea for you. Are these weather proof, or can you do a weather proof version? Prior to the vx I had a Westfield and loads of owners were installing digital dashes - non were anywhere near as good as this. If they are, try posting on www.wscc.co.uk - I'm sure loads would bite your hand off. Mat Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The connectors fitted are not waterproof

the reason is that waterproof connectors are expensive and fitting one to replace a cluster which does not a waterproof connector did not

make sense

However the internals are designed to allow different connectors to be fitted, there is a  PCB (separate to the main board) with the connectors on

so a waterproof connector can be fitted in production.

The rest would need basic gaskets and sealant to prevent spray ingress

This is EXACTLY what i am looking for since a few weeks...

Please give more details about that analog-CAN converter box!

I need do have displayed:

- RPM up to 8000

- speed

- fuel tank

- engine coolant temp

- Lambda (comes from wideband controller als 0-5V signal)

- oil pressure (VDO sensor)

- oil temp (VDO sensor)

- boost (0-5V signal)

not a need but would be cool to display:

- Exhaust gas temperature

- amount of injected water (comes from the controller als 0-1V signal)

- gearbox-temp (2nd oil temp sensor)

You can put me on the list if you can display this things and the price is that 600 GBP.

Its not finished yet

But it will have all the usual inputs for analogue(with 0-1V, 0-5V, etc) frequency, basic I/O , outputs , PWM outputs

and some switches to set the base can address to put all the data on.

@Garw at some point are you going to sell some of these?  You can develop the product for ever and then just as you are ready to launch you'll find that all the VX220's and Elises have  been scrapped as they are 40+ years old......  ;)  Just saying cos I'm desperate for one!

As above. I'd be delighted with one of these right now just providing the existing dash functions so I could get one asap for a reasonable cost, then you can get bogged down developing all the potential options and additions in later versions or upgrades. I really couldn't care less if it buzzes when the lights are left on tbh, what it appears to do so far is already awesome :)

I think you'll have a hit on your hands, especially if you can do the neat tricks of embedded phone screen etc.
