Hello, A question for the turbo guru's...... When washed the car and ONLY then , the speedster idles 1500/1750 rpm. It drives fine , no problem with that. NO engine code. Also turbo seems super resposive . Turbo is A lot louder on this idle. When resetted the ecu (pull fuse 8) for an hour (not 10, 15 , 30 , 45 minutes!) the car idles back to 950 rpm (setted by VMax due cams for smooth idle). When resetting everything with my ELM 327 no joy. Still idle that high. Things i did: replace MAF sensor (3 times), Sparks, coils, checked all vacuum hoses, bcs 'es, map sensor, water sensor under reservoir. Also when the MAF is NOT connected it misfires and does NOT idle. I know, when the Maf is not connected the car Should run. Also a faulty maf runs 1200/1300rpm. When the engine is COLD and it's in the high idle mode (the 1500/1750), it strougles to get in it's - 0.75Bar of vacuum. Only goes to - 0.2/ -0.4 Bar, when warm 80° oil temp it's got the -0.75 Bar vacuum. Also LTFT is 0% when getting into high idle mode.... My ltft are ALWAYS about 10% negative... My throttle body OPENING is also 0% in high idle mode. I know , when in normal mode, it stands 3.1% Maf readings are 10Grams/sec in high idle mode. Think this is normal. SO, pulling fuse 8 is the only thing to do when washed the car.Like i said , ONLY whe washed..... note: FULL electrics are renewed 1.5 year back Car is back to my tuner in 2 weeks but first i like to check some more things myself..... So, turbo dudes, give me some info please!!!! chinky chinky

Bad earth

That would be very very very very NOT acceptable since full electrics (and i mean everything ) was renewed 1.5 year back!

The obvious earth to check is the one on the left side (when looking from the back of the car) of the inlet manifold. There are about 3 different leads with spade connectors that are mounted with a single (M^?) bolt into the side of the inlet manifold. These will get wet every time you wash the car. If it's not those then check the earth on the left side of the rear chassis - this is the really bit bolt one. If it's not those then check the earth lead to the ECU near the boot. Good luck.

Make sure that the alternator wiring isn't touching or very close to anything it shouldn't, and also, check the battery connections for condition, tightness and ensure no battery connections are touching or close to the chassis.

I always put a sheet of plastic over my engine when washing the car.
