That is just linking back to this page ?

D'oh!!!

Was meant to be a link to Simon's Facebook post on Thursday at 11:14.

Head over to the VX220 owners club page and scroll back that far for a photo of the material...in a biscuity colour 😲

Can't find that pic anywhere

I've tracked down the original tooling and the company who made them (the sills) for GM Lotus.

The tooling still exists but woukd need the OK from GM to use.

Trying to track down someone in GM.

Nothing ventured.... and OEM tooling and original OEM manufacturer would be OEM fit and finish?

Is this the original part as fitted to the cars in factory or the cheaper looking part sold by Vauxhall?

I can speak to a friend of mine who works at GM to see if he can get the ok. I've sent him a message.

EDIT: He has replied. He works for VX and not GM but did work for them when GM owned VX and knows loads of GM people, so he is going to ask about and see what he can find out

If we could get someone in authority at GM/VX to say "yes" then i can go back to my contact re the tooling and find out more. Seems pointless though to do it until we know if we can potentially use them.

To be honest we have waited so long for this and the updates are so infrequent I am thinking about just buying the leather stitched covers from ebay and using them.

Reply from my friend at Vauxhall:

The consensus from the people that I asked is that there shouldn't be any issues. The supplier may have the right to use the tooling to supply the aftermarket (in which case the part shouldn't have Opel/Vauxhall part number or branding on it). That would be the first thing that I would check. If they don't have that included in their agreement, can you let me know the part number?

Any idea what the part number is?

When I click on the link there is a picture of the "sill panel" but no part number for "1" and "2". This link works for me:

https://www.speedste...ding/index.html

"1" = Turbo

"2" = NA

Here is another link that shows the parts:

https://opel.7zap.co...ar/e01/d/0/1-0/

It looks like the parts have been replaced with new part numbers (according to the second link), other surface finish and/or other plastic material?
