Lad dishes it out and cant take it shocker
I think you are confusing my honest/objective/reasoned and balanced views with the couple of trolls and sheer brainless nonsense that a few people come up with. I also have an expectation that any human being should at least try to better themselves and find solutions to life's problems (car related on here obviously), but many don't and then take umbrage because they expect to be nannied along without any effort from themselves.

Tbh Nev.. from the way you talk to people on here Id avoid the meets as well..
Haha, after your supercilious comments about me a year or two ago, you are a prime example of the type of person I was refering to. Pretending to know how I drive, how my car handles etc and writing malicious things, when you haven't even met me, haven't had a passenger ride, let alone driven it! Sheesh, when you make comments about matters you simply don't have any info about, you are not going to earn any credibility.
I remember when I first met JJJ many moons ago and he was discussing you, I wondered why he was ranting and being so negative about you. But I know now.

trying to paint a negative image of me by using a respected member of the communitys name to put some weight behind your ridiculous comments is quite funny actually.. and a bit sad..
It not funny, it's not sad, it's just a statement of fact. I was sat next to him in the evening (at one of the Nationals I did attend) and was quite surprised.
I have no reason to think your car handles any different to other similar vxs ive driven, in fact being a vx it naturally lends itself to good handling and it would be quite a challenge to make the car handle badly... and plus.. your the one who was going on and on about how awesome your diesel focus handled. :/
Well you've changed your tune a bit (which is good). I can't be arsed to search for the thread, but I'm sure you'll remember it. The one where I asked you to stop ringing me for advice on how to fix VXTs.
Have you forgot about your just plain horrible comments you made about martins car? Im pretty sure he wouldnt be buying you a beer..
Horrible, i think factual? That car had a massive thread detailing how it had not worked properly for 2+ years with a lot difficult to diagnose issues. In that time it knackered 2 engines (one of them brand new), several exhausts and goodness knows what else. It went from pillar to post with everyone trying to fix it's issues. Then when it sold, it broke down almost instantly for the new owner with the worst looking F23 gearbox failure I've ever seen (a shaft smashing through the casing)! So when I said it was dogged by problems, that was a statement of fact, I think anyone rational and objective looking at the evidence would agree. Even the old owner (Martin) admitted he was fed up with it not working and that why he was selling it! Try reading this thread and tell me that was a car in good order. Then read the new owner threads (on Facebook) where he's had to strip the car apart and fix tons of bodges:
Go on, read some of that and then tell me it wasn't dogged with problems...

Do you keep repeating that sentence to try put me down about not being able top figure out a problem? A problem on a turbo which prior to starting at Jons had no 'real' experience with especially when it comes to electronics and boost. A problem you didn't know the answer either to i might add, however i did find the problem in the end.
and i wasn't talking about that car either, i was talking about martins Exige, you know... the thread where he publicly outed you and you hid behind your monitor and didn't reply in a hope that all would be forgotten..

It's fine to not understand how it worked. I didn't know how it worked when I got my car. Thats all fine. But it was your malicious comments (based on no evidence) that made me want to stop helping you that was not fine.

Huh? What comment about his Exige? Are you referring to the video his friend posted of him jumping on his splitter? I've really not sure what comment you are refereing to, post up a pic or link please.
Anyway, Im bowing out on this thread now, this sort of thing hurts the forum. You can PM me if you want to continue.

It's not a sop to practicality to justify the car. We use the VX quite a bit in summer instead of the other car (which is practical), but we won't be able to this summer as we always take the dogs with us. That means I only really drive it alone, and I have motorcycles for that.
When I look at 911's they tick all the boxes, especially for build quality - but I just don't want one. Maybe if I had one I'd like it? Part of it is their ubiquity, partly I don't like the company, partly I've never really connected with German cars. I think if I did get one it would be the previous generation Targa.
Part of me also thinks I've been through my car phase and now it's time to have other interests.
Sorry to bring this back to actual car talk everyone...
Kurt, very interesting post and a few points resonated with me. I wasn't using the VX much over the past few years as whenever we went out anywhere these days it was with my two girls and other half. Therefore VX was being used when out on my own (which was a once a year annual trip with a few guys) and then the rest of the roadtrips to car shows etc were with my girls... I started down the Evora route for that reason, and 911....always had a poster of an 80's 911 so that's what I ended up doing last summer, bought a useable high miler (rather than the showroom, investment low miles which was unaffordable). Owners seem to be genuine enthusiasts..this was after 8-9 years or so of VX ownership Since i've owned the 1989 targa, i've driven way more than the VX would've got used purely as the girls fit in the back....I do occasionally look at the Evora's, I think its possibly something i'd consider changing if the 911 doesn't become a long term car...but its certain a different type of ownership with classics, used to worry with the VX on a long trip even though it never let me down once...now I worry even more

I take it there's no way of using them to improve the vx at all though
Yup, just like a normal car. Used mine over the past week and end up turning the heater way downAre the heaters any better in those things?
No, totally different. Just buy one of these: https://www.t7design...heater-kit.html
mine apparently has a fezza but it's not great to the point that I'm getting a heated screen installed to help keep the screen demisted (and deiced around this time of year

1/ Interesting to hear that some Evoras are dropping, but in general they seem to have held there prices very well. I was looking an a 20000 mile old S for £30000 2 years ago, that would now be worth a few thousand more. Many people didn't get them to start with but as we have witnessed with people like Coco pops and Foxy, they are very quick decent cars in any form.
One of those people (Dodge) was so impressed, hes just bought a 400 version.
2/ Its not relevant to this post (so I am unsure why that particular vx'er keeps harking back and trying to pick fights with people) but I'm afraid a lot of things said about my old car on face book were often dramatised as is the facebook way. Not being a face booker I usually didn't know what was being said so couldn't respond, but he did ring me immediately (after he had facebooked it) to tell me the new 450bhp clutch had failed, but weirdly didnt mention it was all good an hour later. He did ring me to tell me that the car had been on fire (no doubt after hed facebooked it) , and yet, before I could even dig out a complete new loom to help him out, he had been out for a great drive in it as the big fire had been nothing much at all. There were plenty of others like that. Things like the gaffer tape were shown to him when he looked at it and he understood why it was there.
I hope its all sorted now, as he seemed a nice guy.
3/ I have only ever met nothing but nice, decent, helpful people on here with just the one exception. Not bad for 15 years on a forum, and even though I am only a part time VX'er (still drive my daughters whenever I can), this is easily the best owners site I know of. Keep making me smile people your a good bunch.

I had two Fezz heaters - one was amazing (mk1 version ironically) where as the later version on a different car was not as good (could have been installation error on my part). Both were appreciably better than even a well sealed OEM heater! Never tried the T7 version. Ultimately, the engine needs to be warm before the heater will provide any heat! So it doesn't matter how powerful or efficient the heater is on cold start up, as it'll just blow lots of cold air. Would like a heated screen..
