Looks like I need to acquire another car... and sadly it can't be a shed, it has to be the big sensible car for taking the whole family, dog, luggage etc on long journeys.

I want to keep using the VX so I'll need to insure both cars.

Anyone been through the same situation? Is there a decent multicar policy that would work?

Admiral multi-car for both cars if your VX is not heavily modified.  If it is heavily modified insure the VX with a specialist broker who will mirror your no claims bonus and use your exisiting no claims bonus on your daily driver and insure with cheapest mainstream insurer. Im insured with Reiss (heavily modified VX turbo) and Privilege (I am old) for the daily.

 

Obviously all depends on age/experience area you live etc as what companies are good value.

I used More Than to start off with a mirror of existing no claims (had to phone them). Worked out fine for me, but both cars std.

I binned Admiral last year (had 3 car policy).  I could get cheaper if I split the policy into 3 different providers.  And Admiral would not price match (for exactly the same cover).

I use Greenlight for the VX, think they do NCD mirroring, not that I think that makes a huge difference. Mods covered too.

Mine is on my Admiral multicar policy. It's the first year I've done it for all the cars and combined it saved us about £350. I suspect next year it'll go up and we'll be back to square one.
