My car has the Ohlin shocks with the remote reservoirs, but they are leaking and need a refurb.  Ohlins service prices are £135+vat per damper, plus shipping plus any extra parts needed. So a minimum of £675inc vat.

Matt Bentley can supply Nitron Street Series for £750 plus vat, but have a 5 week lead time, or he can do Quantums for £900 plus vat which is too expensive

Not sure whether to get the Ohlin's serviced, wait for the Nitrons, or just get a 2nd hand set of Bilstein's

Thoughts?

The Ohlin's are lovely but they have only done 10K miles and already need servicing (not uncommon it seems)

Get the Ohlins serviced by Mick Gardner racing. They have turned them around very quickly for me when I needed them to. Mine are now on over 50k and have been fully serviced 3 times, every time they are like new again.

Remember replacing with Ohlins would be 3k!

Thanks Joss. How much do they charge to service them?

or speak to Simon at https://www.raceshocks.uk/ , they are Official Service and Sales agents for suspension from Nitron, Ohlins, Penske, Quantum and Tractive.

I paid £95+vat for mine to be done , plus courier as I needed them done asap and everywhere else was quoting 5-6 weeks.

People would bite your hand off for 10K service intervals on coilovers. A quick search brings up Nitrons and Quantums, and well everything really, that dont last that long.

Rebuild, refit and enjoy.

Er... really? Changing dampers every 10k miles sounds ludicrous to me.

And me but a quick search shows leaky ones after a year or two on most brands. I guess we only hear about the leaky ones though. My Nitrons are fine and have done nearly 20K.

Cornering Force as mentioned above, you get a map of each individual damper as well for reference plus they really will match them and not just use the same shim stack and assume they will match.

You can even go and watch which is quite cool

:)

Have you seen the National Charity Auction?

I have a full set of billies you can borrow if you need to whilst yours are serviced?

They are pretty grotty but may help.

That sounds good. I think I will need a rebuild in the near future too.
But what does that mean in total? I think most users will need oil and seals and have to pay vat in this forum.

It means that Öhlins seals and oil is much more expensive than those for Nitrons, Quantum, Penske etc hence why we separate out the costs.

If you have a specific requirement please email enquiries@corneringforce.com and we will provide a quote.

Cheers

Jeeze, £675 for shocks every 10,000 miles is too much to bear, I'm not surprised you're irritated.
