2002 N/A VX220 - Lightning Yellow #59

Miles: 80,300
Price: £10,800
Location: Wiltshire
MOT until May 2019

Clean history and never crashed

I’ve owned the car for two years and around 10k miles. I’d used it a bit for commuting at first, but ended up getting another vehicle for daily use and left the VX for sunny weekends. It’s been a fantastic ownership experience, always being superbly reliable and a fantastic driving experience. This is one of the best vehicles I’ve ever driven and easily the best car I’ve owned. It’s being sold as a life change dictates that it’s simply no longer feasible to keep, and someone else deserves to enjoy it.

I looked at several VX220s before choosing this one. With the remap, I’d much preferred it to a standard turbo (this one having much better response without an appreciable loss of performance). This is easily the tightest-feeling of any of the VXs I’ve been in. The paintwork is in above-average condition with no blistering.

The car has an extensive list of tasteful upgrades, including:
  • TMS Stage 1 Remap
  • Piper exhaust without the precat – sounds incredible
  • Quantum Black dampers (with 400/475 spring rates) – absolutely excellent
  • Federal RSR tires on black Team Dynamics 1.2 wheels, with 205s on the front
  • Lotus Elise Type 72 Probax seat - original still available
  • Lotus Elise windscreen wiper assembly
  • LED headlight bulbs – infinitely better than original
  • Mintex 1144 brake pads
  • Upgraded stereo
  • Upgraded door catches
  • Both the hard top and the soft top
  • Black badges, full carpet set, and two keys
The full documented service history will be included. This car has a rich past of being owned by previous enthusiasts, of whom I contacted after buying it to hear their stories with it.

That is an absolute cracker. I've heard remaps on na's don't do much! But after reading I'm guessing that's not the case??

Beautiful car!

Remaps don't do much on an N/A.  I wouldn't believe that statement about no appriciable loss of perfromance. Yes throttle response may be better than a Turbo but it definitly won't have as much 'shove' as a standard turbo.

I'm also unsure about the horsepower increase from the Piper exhaust/removed precat. In any case, I prefered the response and power delivery of this car to the standard Turbo I also drove. To each his own.

My first VX was a 2.2 NA.  No remap at all.  But with a Milltek VXR backbox, plus precat & maincat removed.   Beside that I modified the original airbox for better breathing.  Result was 162 BHP on the rollers.  That wasn't spectacular, but the biggest change was that de torque-curve now kept  climbing after 5000rpm.  This allowed me of pulling into the rev-limiter in 5th gear, which wasn't possible before.  And it felt way faster then original.

Stunning car. Might be interested in the seats if the new buyer would prefer the original seats and pricing is reasonable.

Not in a rush but thought I’d at least express interest. GLWTS. A properly done remap on an NA might not do too much for a power increase but massively improves the gearing and makes it much more punchy for the driver.

Price drop to Â£10,800.

Perhaps I was being a bit ambitious with the original price. Regardless, I'm motivated to get my VX off to a new owner.

Thanks for all of the kind words gents.

Hi Nobby - Yep, it's still for sale. Let me know if you'd like to speak further about the car.

I've had interest from a few potential buyers but no takers yet!
