Does anyone have an alternative email address for the guy who's fitting this. I've tried emailing him on the www.racetcs.com website to ask if he thinks he can install his system with my Adaptronic ECU, but have heard nothing back...

Obviously I need to check this important point with him prior to buying and driving up.

Hi Titan.

You are the last man to pay up. Please can you do so the units can be delivered to RLM?

Thanks,

Jon

Booked in to have this system fitted, and after reading the manual, was wondering where the potentiometer/led could be fitted. There is very little room on the dash, I maybe was thinking of a bracket fitted under the dash toward the centre but within easy reach of the driver.

Any other suggestions?

I also believe that the handbrake indication can be used instead of a led to indicate the amount of slip set.

Dear Gadget2,

I have been in touch with Jacek to get a progress report on our parts which have been consolidated and soon to be sent to RLM racing for our October installation setting by the way. :)

He gave me the following reply to your question:

"As for the fitting of potentiometer - this will be up to the owner. I do not plan to drill any holes. It is a matter of style/user preferences and I won't have any tools to do it. I think this can be done by the interested party (owner of the car), while we are doing the wiring.

As for the Handbrake indication - most of the cars have a switch shorting to ground to activate handbrake light. This is the easiest method to indicate something on the dash. In VX220 i have not done it myself. I think it requires undoing some bolts covering the handbrake. This will also have to be done by the owner of the car.
RaceTCS users in VX220 have their own methods of fitting the pot. VX220 has not that much space on the dash, so it required good thinking :). I am afraid we cannot do all the manual work without owners help, as we have just 2 hours per car to solder the wiring and do a test drive."

Kind regards,

Jon

Anyone else likely to be around early on the saturday fitting? I have very limited knowlege and overall technical dexterity when it comes to these cars, hence opting for installation not DIY, as my car is first I am probably not going to be a whole lot of help and getting a bit worried about going first.

I'd swap, I'm last on Sunday, but I've now booked a track day on the Saturday

To manage the expectations, some explanation from my side.

Installation can be split in 2 parts. 1st is electrical part, where you solder the wires and connect everything to existing harness and TCS, 2nd is routing the wires, hiding it behind some plastic covers, drilling a hole for potentiometer (or mounting it on the bulkhead). This is quite easy task, but takes time. If i have no hands to help with things like disassembling interior parts , then the maximum we can do is 3 cars per day.

To be clear, i come to UK to help you out and promote the device itself, not earn money on the installation. I am fine with just 3 or even 2 cars per day :). More time to chat and relax ;).

Since there is a big interest i expect you to do some preparations beforehand, so that we do not waste time on easy mechanical tasks.

I propose a task for forum DYI guys - write some guide how to prepare the car before installation. We need easy access to handbrake switch (so we can solder the TCS indication into handbrake wire).  Potentiometer location is up to individual preference, if you want it on the dash (near heating /ventilation knobs), you need to provide access to this area.

I will be in Uppingham on friday - who is the closes and can drive up , so we do some investigation and maybe a trial installation ? I do not own VX220 myself, so i am quite limited with what i can do at the moment.

Jacek

Hi Jacek,

I am a long way from the destination but will offer my car as a test mule on the Friday if necessary. Let’s see if anyone else offers closer...

Kind regards,

Jon
