Hi Jacek,

I'm more than happy to prepare my VX as best as possible prior to you doing what you need to do, removing the handbrake cover is not a problem. What other areas do you need covers removing and to gain good access too?

Personal until I see the size/shape of the potentiometer I will not be sure weather to drill a hole or mount on the bulkhead, etc. But I would be happy to just have this wired up and working and I can route the potentiometer wiring and mounting myself afterwards, leaving you more time to finish up or move onto the next guy. Anything to help make this as smooth and painless as possible.

Cheers,

Martyn

For now i think taking handbrake cover out to reveal if we can access handbrake switch would be 1st step. Next is verifying if you need to remove back plastic cover (behind the seats), to pull a wire between engine bay and cabin. I spoke to my colleague and there is some opening on the left side (behind passenger seat in UK cars) that should allow us to route wires from engine bay to the cabin.

Thanks you for your help :).

To save time I was going to remove the seat, handbrake cover and rear panel and leave it all at home. This will also give better access all around.

For anyone with limited mechanical knowledge it's fairly easily.

Passenger seat is 4 bolts, one at each corner and the seat belt mount, one bolt.

Rear plastic is plastic screws all easily accessible

Hand brake cover is two screws each side, two grubs on handbrake handle then just slide it off

As for the potentiometer - it is regular potentiometer with 7mm shaft. You drill a hole, push the pot through, tighten the nut and put a knob on.

All is included in the package.

Hope this helps :)

My colleague (piwo) drilled a hole in handbrake cover. The pot has 10 clicks, so it is not that easy to turn it by mistake.

Thank you ash_gt4 for your input.

Just an update for everybody.

I will now pick up Jacek on the Friday night and trial fit the first unit at my house before taking him to the Hotel in Rutland. I have therefore offered my early slot on the Sunday to Rabbidog.

Looks like it may be prudent to loosen or remove the handbrake cover and remove the passenger seat either before or just before installation. I’m sure there will be plenty of people to help if you haven’t done it before?

Think I may start another thread offering a mini meet on the Sunday at RLM racing for those who just fancy a coffee, maybe some lunch somewhere as there are some fantastic eateries in Rutland..

My slot is on Saturday at 11am. I'm willing to come way earlier and remove whatever is needed over there. I hope it's fine.

Hi Jon,

I'm afraid I need to pull out of the installation day due to work commitments meaning I wont be in the country during the install day sadly  :(

I will have to put myself on the DIY list and await the step by step guide.

I assume all the units have been sent to RLM by now? Is it possible to arrange my unit to be sent to me? will covering postage costs of course!

Hi Martynm,

Ok,
sh*t happens. I guessed there would be some cancellations. I just hope we can make it still worth Jacek’s time flying from Poland for us...

I will work something out for your system, no worries. Will most likely arrange delivery myself as all the items have successfully been delivered to RLM now.

We are all good for that weekend now guys 👍

Think it's only suitable for performance cars

Hi

The system should work with any car that has multipoint (no direct) injection. ABS systems are almost all identical (there are just 2 types of wheel speed sensors). I see no reason why it should not work.

Direct injection cars might get suitable hardware next year.

For future discussions please use this topic :  http://www.vx220.org...-racetcs/page-2.
